Interesting how Keith's Trouble sounds strikingly like Ronnie's Show Me. . .

It's classic Keith and I don't think Mick's singing would do it any more justice.

It's only rock n' roll and I like it. Pretty good for an old guy, lol.

I play drums/bass/guitar and create my own songs at home so I automatically go to the drum sound and amount of overdubs. Lots of guitar overdubs on this one. I prefer only 2 guitars one left and one right. The drum sound leaves something to be desired. The snare sound isn't horrible but it has something like a "slap back" effect on it or echo/reverb I just don't like. Maybe I need to hear a better version.

Unlike any single Mick's released solo in... well, his last one since pre-VOODOO LOUNGE Stones was in 2001... this is fantastic, Trouble, Keith's first single from an album since his last one pre-VOODOO LOUNGE.

So they're one for one in post-VOODOO solo albums.

Trouble is already better than any and all of GODDESS IN THE DOORWAY.

I really want to like it.
The muddy, mushy drums are aweful. The acoustic guitar is also very muddy and buried until the last bit.Waddy does do some nice "weaving."
The lyrics are,shall we say,uninspired.
The overall song structure is downright uninspired:
1 couplet Verse followed by 1 couplet chorus
repeat
lame guitar solo
verse/chorus
"Bridge" yeah, sure,if you say so;no lyrics and just 'placeholding'playing.
Final Verse/Chorus with the 'new' motif for some variety.

I remember when 'Take is so Hard' came out and I couldn't listen enough.I've listened to Trouble now 6-12 times and there just isn't much there.

drinking smileythumbs up

...maybe we should not TAKE IT SO HARD (yeah yeah).

I think it sounds ok, certainly a catchy tune. Once I listened to it I couldn't get it out of my mind all day. It's just a classic Keith rocker, not spectacular but definitely much better than 'Doom and Gloom' any day. Can't wait for the rest of the album, it's got promise.

...but definitely better than "Doom and Gloom"...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA great joke.

Yes, must be a joke mister Thru and Thru.
Imagine we had to go Thru and Thru this "Trouble" instead of "Doom and Gloom" in the setlist since 2012...

I agree! just downloaded from iTunes and the guitars are sensational.

Does anyone know whether the credit card is charged automatically when the pre-order is placed or is the card charged only when they ship in September?

It is not what I would call anything that will resonate or mean anything more than another sub par effort .

it's a good song
i particularly dig the drum murky sound, it got the groove
nothing sensational, kind of a patchwork of classic keith's motives
but a good fifties undertone and i love keith's attitude of course

Really looking forward to it, but as always the question rises: Why not work up the good songs from both Keith and Mick to a great new STONES album and have Waddy Wachtel, Steve Jordan etc. play as guests on it or not.
Best of Talk Is Cheap + Primitive Cool = FANTASTIC ROLLING STONES ALBUM in 1988
Best of Main Offender + Wandering Spirit = FANTASTIC ROLLING STONES ALBUM in 1992/3.

Sorry, to pickl up a Quote from page 14 or so but I have to add:
She's The Boss plus Dirty Work would have made a great Stones Album too as DW was almost a Keith solo.

They can´t take their solo-songs and turn them into Stones-songs, mainly because most of these songs are co-written with other artists. For a new Stones-album Jagger/Richards-credited songs are a MUST. One More Shot gave credits also to Wachtel, I think. But this happened only once and they wouldn´t do this on a whole album. Think of a Dave-Stewart-credit on a Stones-album, horrible... And they don´t need any guest-players on a new Stones-album (Mick Taylor the least).

Besides this, the world needs new Stones-albums, always did, no solo-efforts. Imho, these were all a waste of time, to be honest. You miss Mick on Keith´s albums and you miss Keith on Mick´s albums and you miss Charlie and Ronnie overall. All this solo-stuff makes not much sense to me.

It was Steve Jordan who got credit along with MJ/KR.

The vocal line actually reminds me of the verses of Be My Baby:
the brevity of the melodic phrases, the pauses - it wants handclaps!

Trouble is similar to many songs:
Eileen
How i wish
You got it made
Show me
Could have stood you up
Be my babe
Various outtakes
...but it's a great song with a great sound!

Doom and Gloom is a usless and very poor Mick's solo song. It would be good for Goddes in the Doorway!

You may think it's useless, I think it's a pretty decent effort that got lots of airplay. This new one from Keith has zero inspiration, it's fine..... I agree with Paulywaul. The open g thing just sounds tired.....

if we can count on you for one thing it is to be sure you'll have an insult or dig at one of the Glimmers to prop up another...tired old schtick.

First of, I don't find Doom & Gloom useless but it does sound a bit forced to be a pop song. fine with me.
Btw. D&G is also in open G! so if you're getting tired of open G, you're getting tired of Keith.
not me though.

Keith's Trouble has a loose strut to it, which I absolutely enjoy.
Drums are not as snappy as Charlie's but the rythm just has Winos written allover 'em. that's nice for a change.
