Professionals in Rock - Steve Morse suited them (Deep Purple) very well.thumbs up

The Stones could have brought in Steve Morse for their 2012-2013 engagements to play Mick Taylor's parts in Mick Taylor's 1969-73 style 10x better than Mick Taylor can today. On Sway, Hear Me Knocking, Dead Flowers, Ventilator etc etc you get the idea. And Steve Morse would have done it with lots of feeling. Not as a recital.

Of course this would never happen

That's only part of Buddy Guy's itinerary up there--I saw him in Mississippi in July during the first part of his tour.

Mind you, I expect he needs the money more than some other people we know . . (And the dude just loves to play.)

They could definitely have used Steve Morse during the entire post Taylor era. What's done is done.

Fingerprint file...
got'em down
keep'em running
keep'em on the ground...
Feeling tagged
Crossing water
Trying to wipe their tracks
then there's some little jerk in the FBI
keepin' papers on 'em
six feet high
It gets me down, it gets me down...

Steve Morse, wow! I haven't thought about him in a lot of years...used to hear him play all the time in my college days in Athens, GA, back when he was with the Dixie Dregs. Nice to see some appreciation of him here, but I can't imagine him playing with the Stones in place of Mick Taylor.

When Deep Purple snapped him up, The Stones lost out big. Steve Morse has talent on loan from God...and then some.

Steve Morse is a great guitar player.

But no way that he's a better guitar player then Mick Taylor in his Stones era?

If the people could choose between him and Richie Blackmore to tour with Deep Purple.

Then Blackmore would probably win.

You have a very firm grasp of the obvious!

For someone that actually hasn't added anything to this particular conversation I find it interesting that 'your take' on it is to simply dismiss someone else's opinion in a rude way.

I get the feeling you may have just been trying to be clever, in which case I'd suggest you need to try a little harder.

My take on the actual thread topic, is that they really aren't sure what the next step will be, and are negotiating that.

Hey, take it easy. Jazzbass' remark was funny, even if it was a little rude. I'm sure bv is okay with it. He's seen more bullsh!t on this board than anyone else. smoking smiley

No- not better than Mick Taylor during his Stones years
Yes- probably better than Mick Taylor today and could play Mick Taylors classic Stones lines better than MT today

Richie Blackmore is way out of practice for Deep Purple kind of music. He has been playing folkie type music with his wife for a while.

So Steve Morse wins on both counts. He is healthy as a horse and ready to rock or play more sophisticated material (jazz)
