Mick's on stage "gags" ..

.. usually followed by a quick drum roll from Charlie.

They're so bad they're amazing.
A personal favourite .. "why aren't you all in church anyway?" from Ladies and Gentlemen.
The Boris Johnson treehouse one from the Hyde Park recording is great too.
Any others I'm missing? A compilation of Mick's greatest moments would be fabulous. Lossless only though, no mp3.

His comments and fake southern accent on the Champaign, Illinois 1969 bootleg are truly hilarious.

Who went to church this Sunday? from LA Forum 75. So funny they named a bootleg after it!

"Turn the lights up Patrick" - Glastonbury 2013

"Patrick thank you very much for all the lights, we've paid for them, turn them off" - St Louis 1997

Who exactly is this Patrick guy?

Brilliant .. for some reason I didn't pick up on the LA Forum one.
I've been trying to make out what he says at the start of the Perth 1973 show .. can't quite make it out but he seems on particularly perky form though.

At Hyde Park 1 : "Welcome to Mick Taylor, he played with us here for the first time in 1969, we found him in the pub and asked if he'd like to play in front of 250,000 people....."

For the 2nd Anaheim show for the S. Calif. audience Mick did his "Californians" accent from SNL ("The Californians" being the running SNL skit where every conversation devolves into traffic directions...very S. Cal.). Mick was right near me when he did it and I was laughing my butt off.

Blond Mick sitting as a "Californian" on SNL:

A few of his recent jokes have been mildly controversial, stupidly imo. His joke in DC, that even though President Obama wasn't in attendance, he was probably "listening in," and his joke at the Sandy Relief concert. "This has got to be the largest collection of old English musicians ever assembled in Madison Square Garden...if it rains in London, you've got to come help us, OK?"

I agree about the second one! There were more than 100 fatalities right? So, no jokes on that I suppose!

See Garden State 78 for a veritable flood of hilarious wisecracks, including:

"Keith says I can play this if I play quietly, so I will. We're gonna do some numbers from Some Girls album".

"I think we're gonna do, maybe do a country song. New Jersey's in the country, ain't it? I thought it was"

"I followed her to the station with a toothbrush in my hand."

"Well, delving back into the songbook... Are you all right? ARE YOU ALL RIGHT!
I bet we haven't got too many girls that are sixteen, but we're gonna do one for them anyways.
This is an old Rod Stewart number that he taught me many years ago, while I was still in Kindergarten.
I've forgotten the words but Keith will help me out."

"I'd like to get one of my friends in the band to sing for you - a rarely-heard occurrence.
You gonna use your own microphone again, Keef? Oh, you're gonna have a fag before you sing for so many people!"

"Thank you, Keef - maybe do another one, I mean, they're not satisfied with one, yaknowwhatImean."

O2 London first night: "All right in the cheap seats up there? Oh yeah, there aren't any."

To which the bloke next to me yelled "F**k off you millionaire c**t". Quite right.

It was "me trousers". Mick the comedian. He said it funny too. This even inspired a rock mag called Trouser Press-

A funny moment from the stage happened just last month, when there was a between-song interlude where the band gave birthday boy Charlie Watts a 25-second rendition of "Happy Birthday". Mick coaxes Charlie onto the stage in front of his drums, and Charlie reluctantly agrees, then Mick says to audience: "He just loves the attention!"

Oh lord .. Mick's just a legend, pure and simple.
I'm also starting to see a Deluxe box set emerging too .. no music, just pure Mick.

We'll give ourselves another half a minute before we get our breath back
Everyone just cool down and easy.
Is there anyone there that hurt? Huh?
Everyone all right? Okay? All right?
I think we're...a cool, we can go.
We're always...something very funny happens when we start that number.

He must have had a great time. confused smiley

I think it's the Forum '75 when he refers to Keith and Ronnie as "the desperate tune-up twins," I always liked that. grinning smiley

1) San Diego, 1998, during El NiƱo, Mick: "Hold on to your cymbal's Charlie".

2) What about the open zipper gag for HBO in MSG in '03?

3) When Bill Wyman had his restaurant in Cambridge, there was two pict's of Mick up to his norm. The first pict was Mick throwing water out of a bucket into the crowd. There was a second, same show, only the bucket was full of confetti. We always talked about these two pictures and the great gag's. At Wembley in '03 Mick actually dumped water on us and we flipped out!

If anyone has these two pictures stuffed away in their archives, please post em since both are a scream.

Merci.
