Oh, Jeez, I LIKE Bono, so lighten up. He's a mega-rock star who has used his position to help the causes he believes in, which I think is admirable. I'd do the same thing if I were in the financial position to do so.

Posts like this remind me that many Stones fans have a conservative bent, which in of itself seems odd. Why else would we have the endless discussions about "bringing back the old days"?

I enjoy studying history, too, but I don't necessarily want to recreate it. We can't recapture our youth, not matter how hard some may try. James Taylor once wrote, "The secret of life is enjoying the passage of time". I fully subscribe to this point of view.

IT's u2 or oasis who are (badly) bringing back the past years. WHAT I LIKE ARE THE STONES IN THE PRESENT.
NEXT ALBUM, KEITH WITH TOOTS AND HUBERT, MICK WITH JOSS, RON WITH LITTLE BANDS ETC AND OF COURSE THE CLASSICAL GODDESS IN THE DOORWAY AND THE LAST R0NNIE'SOLO "not for (BONO) beginners". BYE.

Bono is boring. He wants to be together politically engaged and a diva. This pattern has never work, and never will - for Bono as well for anyone.

Plus, as for many of these "engaged" people, he has not a clear picture of how economics works. Let just said that they are totally wrong in believing the main issue of development, health, etc. lies in money.

But he is a great singer.

The right expression is :
some of you (us) have fallen from the trap.
you can only fall from a trap ; how the heck can you fall in the trap?
I don't get it .

Schuine: Please, please, pretty please would you email me an mp3 file on which there is no music whatsoever, but on which you pronounce your name in the clearest Dutch??? I've been wondering for years and years how on Earth your name is said roperly and I just can't stand the suspense any longer!
It's the mp3 file or I'll have to throw myself behind the train!!!!!!!!! (and I do hope you could NOT live with that knowledge...)

I ain't fond of U2's music, but I really don't like BONO
I don't think people should mix entertainment and politics as much as he does.

Just let the N fall aside, and then you get his real name : BOZO

Fallen from the trap?

Schuine, I think trap means "val". En je kunt niet van een val vallen.

"Trap" is stairs, isn't it?

I think you are fallen off from the trap here. winking smiley

I once saw U2 when they were support act to the Police in Newcastle I think, 1979/1980 ish and they were awesome - and so was Bono in particular.

Have any of you ever tried to sing like Bono? He is a gifted singer, and U2 are very gifted musicians.

I still prefer the Stones though......

Regards,

Ian.

We are in danger of becoming paranoid over U2.
Lets not take away what they have achieved by crass unfair critism.
U2's track record speaks for it self - how many bands apart from the greatest of them all have stayed at the top for 20 odd years.
We don't need to like U2 but lets not critise because they are challenging the Stones for the No1 mantle or we don't agree with their personal opinions or actions.
There have been many bands that have challenged the Stones in live performance and as yet not one has succeeded in over taking them.

Let U2 do their stuff, I don`t mind if any group sells more tix than the stones does. It`s really a strange discussion, it seems that we all feel that the stones will soon be just a memory ( and the best I have !!!) but we are not willing to accept it. I`ve always thought the stones will never stopp but when they went off the stage the last time I got to face the fact that I`m growing old......

It`s better to burn out than just to fade away....

i don't like singers who use "affected" styles like Bono. I don't like it when Jagger does this either. Sting is another good example.
