many fans are happy that the stones got stuck with overpriced tickets(cause thats what really happened)and let go of premium seats for 85 dollars, pit tickets, good seats etc.and i am very hppy for them,it gave people a chance to go,that could not afford to go.shame on the stones though,no pat on the back from me,ang iv'e been this bands loyal supporter and seen 2 newark show,as well as over 20 others.but how do you think you would feel if you spent 1,500 dollars on a ticket only to find out the guy next to you paid 85.this is a total slap in the 1,500 dollar fans face,no matter how you want to justify it.if they weren't greedy this never would of happened and everyone could have been happy.now for every fan they made happy they pissed people off very much.this is wrong,so so wrong.pit tix should of been 600,lowers 350(and they all would of sold)than 250-150-and 85.they would of sold out all there shows.shame,shame,shame.

Yes I agree it's pure capitalism and it backfired on them.

The good news is thousands of true stones fans saw the band in amazing seats in what might be their last go round, for $85.

Karma's a bitch, oh yeah!

If anyone's rich enough to think nothing of paying $1500 for a concert ticket, then I doubt they'd be that bothered. I guess its a lesson learned the hard way for anyone who isnt but was daft enough to be roped in to something where it was quite evident the supply was always going to exceed the demand.

"pit tix should of been 600,lowers 350"

No ticket for any concert by any band should be costing 600 or 350 dollars.

I see the logic, and the only flaw is this; If there is a fall leg, I want to do a show with my father and son, that would be cool. Between my father and I, we could swallow 150's......maybe 250's, depending on surcharges, etc. Stepping up to the 200+ level will also affect our overall experience, t-shirts, food, couple of beers, etc. So here is the rub, do I overextend on tickets, for average seats to guarantee not having a nosebleed(likely be my sons only show), or do I play the lottery? We could end up in the pit, or we could be in the back of the arena. Also, it seems when the security guards with tickets come out, they favor pairs over threes. This just sucks, and I fail to believe that they are protecting me from scalpers. Stinks.

You've been a loyal supporter of a world wide famous band?

And that means.... what? That they "care"? You have no voice - it has always been YOUR choice. No one made you. Pay or stay home. It's that simple.

yeah the idea that $350 is all of a sudden a bargoon is ridiculous.

I've paid $450 once, and a pair for $375 each...both ABB shows and the most I've ever spent. Way too much for a rock concert.

I won't ever spend that much any longer and am comfortable with the fact I won't see another stones show. Am thankful though for the $85s I did get.

I paid $1500 for a pit package and got to stand on the rail right in front of Ronnie. The experience was worth every penny. Plenty of folks around me paid $85 and it didn't bother me at all. In fact I was happy for them and we ended up having beers/drinks together etc.

The ticket pricing/structure as/is brilliant and like a lot of what the Stones
do, will be copied by others.

Only problem NO ONE or NO BAND can command what they do.

The $85 tickets were/are also BRILLIANT.

Went to a few.. and NO ONE asked me.. "What did you pay for your ticket?"

And the guy ho paid the $1500?? Could have been me.. but I CHOSE to gamble.
He/she obviously could have to.

Any whining about the $85 tickets is pure jealousy.

If it happens in the fall, I'm 99% certain that I will go the 85$ route....still much better than 250+ for only a decent seat, and I might get lucky.

Just one problem: The Rolling Stones are not just ANY band. Besides, AEG explained their strategy, like it or not. $1500.00 to a high roller Stones fan is like a nickel to "blue collars."

I could see the cause for outrage if Springsteen was charging the amount the Stones charge. His fans pay enough to hear him strain to blow the wax out of his ears and the gravel from his mouth! smiling smiley

I paid what to me was a huge amount of money for a great seat, and if the guy next to me spent $85, then good for him, great that he could get an affordable ticket and a terrific view. Doesn't bother me in the slightest what anyone else paid, I know what the ticket was worth to me. And nobody asked me what I paid, either, and I didn't ask them. Because we were all too busy rocking out.

Re: slap in the face

The Stones ABB tour ended in 2007. They started back up over five years later. Fans had 60 plus months to save for the 50th anniversary tour. $25.00 a month for 60 months equals $1500.00.

Wow....just wow. I guess the Stones are an elitist thing now, for people who have paid for their homes and put their kids through college.....these people can get together, congratulate themselves for being there, say the show was legendary before it starts......Its easy to tell which are "Mick" fans, and which are "Keith" fans, very easy.....sad.

The Stones have nearly always had a faction of "high roller" fans.

Hey, I don't know about anybody else, but I'm not a high roller--this was a lot of money to me, and required sacrifices elsewhere. Still doesn't mean I resent somebody else getting lucky.

Re: slap in the face

I think your missing my point....I am fine with the extremes, it's the 250-600$ middle ground that sucks. I would enjoy any seat, but taking a first timer, I would want to secure a decent seat....not necessarily floor, or even lower level, but decent, that's where its really a gamble. The extra 200-400$ would mostly get spent at the event. Again, save the front sections and the pit, no seat is worth 250+, so if you're taking a first timer, its a tough decision.

In a related note......do you think Philly one was great? Down to 21 songs minus one for Brad Paisley...... the Stones have an end to this bargain too.

Stones did not get stuck with overpriced tickets...AEG did. AEG took for granted that people would jump out of their chairs and blow $1200 or more for 2 tickets on short notice.

Re: slap in the face

To clarify again, if I threw down the 1500$, I too wouldn't care who was around me....I would be occupied with the show! It's that middle ground that I hate.

AEG's strategy was to make life as miserable as possible for the scalpers. They succeeded. It's a hard pill to swallow for some Stones whiners but the Stones fought for lower ticket prices for their fans. That's a fact!

Funny thing is, I always assumed it would take at least a grand to get within 40' of the stage.

The mystery tix are more a "pat on the back" to fans - giving them a great experience, imo.

If I paid $1500 (which would never happen), and the lucky guy next to me was escorted from the nose bleeds-section into the pit, I would be happy for him, surely.

You could try flying across the Atlantic, sweating it out and waiting for reseller prices to drop on the day.

Buying pit for half price at 4pm.............it wasn't good for the nerves, but we weren't prepared to risk $85 nosebleeds.

If we could have done more than 2 US shows, then the $85s are a great way to do it. Roll on European leg.........how much is that in Euros ? !smileys with beer

It has always been possible to get half price tickets for theatre shows (opera, ballet, etc) on the day of the show, just as it's possible to get stand-by airline tickets for a reduced price.

But the discount shouldn't be more than 50%, not the difference between $1500 or $600 and $85.

The most I ever paid for a ticket was $300 and that was for a special opera that had elephants on the stage.

I suppose the RS' $600 tickets are the equivalent of business- or first-class airline tickets; way out of line with what an ordinary person could or would pay. It's an ego thing for them - they do it because they think they can. But it turns out they can't....
