rarities? let's just have some different "hits"

Guys I know you aren't going to give us a wonderful gift like the Licks Tour set list wise, but how about at least play some "different" hits. It was really nice to see Street Fighting Man dusted off after 10 years at the Echoplex.

This isn't my dream list of songs, this is a realistic alternative to the same old hits.

How about?

Mother's Little Helper
Heart of Stone
19th Nervous Breakdown
Ruby Tuesday
Let's Spend The Night Together
Under My Thumb
Not Fade Away
Time is on my Side
Shattered
Emotional Rescue

Come on Mick, these songs get beat to death on classic rock radio, people know them!

Why Shattered? They have played it often, and it doesn't seem to work well live. A lot of love for Emotional Rescue here lately, which I think is great. It took decades for that one to gain respect.

Funny thing is they could do a Soldier Field 1997/Foxboro 2002 style 140 minute "greatest hits" show 2 nights in a row without repeating any songs.

There are a bunch of songs that were top forty hits or that are played on classic radio that are pretty much neglected:
Time Is On My Side
Heart Of Stone
Play With Fire
As Tears Go By
Mother's Little Helper
19th Nervous Breakdown
Under My Thumb
Ruby Tuesday
LSTNT
Let It Bleed
Monkey Man
CYHMK
2000 Light Years From Home
She's A Rainbow
Dandelion
Bitch
She's So Cold
Rip This Joint
It's All Over Now
Have You Seen Your Mother Baby
Good Times, Bad Times
Not Fade Away
Angie
Heartbreaker - Would be great with MT
Dance Little Sister
Ain't Too Proud To Beg
Fool To Cry
Beast of Burden
Emotional Rescue
Hang Fire
Little T&A
Neighbors
Mixed Emotions

I believe all of these songs were on the singles charts except for Monkey Man, Let It Bleed and CYHMK.

always felt a lot of stones songs are only well know because they have been played to death live, so in effect if they had chosen different songs they would be the well know ones.

they have plenty of scope to alternate almost every song for every gig and still play songs which are well known.

this would be my fantasy setlist with alternatives.

not done in order.

1. brown sugar
2. paint it black
3. j j flash

all 3 ever presents for the tour.

4. satisfaction/ruby tuesday.
5. its only rock and roll/tumbling dice
6. honky tonk woman/street fighting man
7. gimme shelter/midnight rambler
8. miss you/start me up
9. under my thumb/lets spend the night together
10. shattered/respectable
11. live with me/bitch
12. as tears go by/lady jane/wild horses
13. memory motel/waitin on a friend/angie
14. she was hot/shes so cold/ shes a rainbow
15. if you cant rock me/torn and frayed/heartbreaker/star star
16. rough justice/plundered my soul/doom and gloom/high wire
17. keith. any 3 from the worst, happy, you got the silver, connection, little t and a, slipping away.
18. love is strong, almost hear you sigh, laugh i nearly died, brand new car.
19. 2000 light years from home, 2000 man, citadel, dandelion, miss amanda jones, complicated.
20. one more try, she said yeah, im alright, tell me.
21. not fade away, the last time, its all over now.
22. love in vain, no expectations.
23. any cover version.

doing this gives plenty of scope for covering a vast amount of recorded verions of stones songs and also keeps every setlist very recognizable to most fans.
