What did Charlie Watts say when questioned about the notion of him possibly having decided to quit not so long ago? Something along the lines of "quit what? There's no need to quit, we aren't doing anything".
I am sure commercial success and to a lesser extent, perhaps celebrity are missed, in Mick Taylor's case. But he is hardly a nobody Max.

That was 40 years ago. How can what he has been doing in the intervening 4 decades be of no relevance to his current ability to contribute?

I guess I should try to start ignoring the Ronnie Wood hating morons who bash on Ronnie Wood incessantly, it has been going on for years here on IORR, and it greatly disrepects what Ronnie has been doing in the 30 years since Tyalor quit..... but if Ronnie bashers dream that Taylor being wheeled out for nostalgic, ticket selling, purposes and playing two songs is going to change anything in the big picture, they need to stay in bed dreaming. I'll try to start ignoring these insane Taylorites and the bizarre consternation of a couple of them here who seem to fly into a rage whenever Ronnie Wood's name is mentioned..

Maybe would be relevant to count active years.
Ronnie has been in Stones for some 38 years, but how many of as an active member? Some 20-25 years?
Brian was 7 years?
Mick was 5 years?
Bill was 20-24 years?

Nobody said the Stones as a band suck with (or without) Ronnie.
The bottom line: The Stones will always be a great band with the core members of Keith, Mick, and Charlie.

That is what was written, but again it was related to a simple comparison between two guitar players...nothing to do with the band as a whole
With that said, I'm not ashamed to admit I prefer the MT era vs. anything that has come after, but I'm not saying everything that came after that era sucked.
As you mentioned...there's been many years of touring and great concerts since MT left the band.

Cool man,,,COOL! Vegas!! Be sure to get a Stones chip while you are, if they offer them. One of the few souveniers to always be worth what you paid.

I saw The Stones in Nijmegen back in 95, both days, it was awesome! We were front of the barricade, and it really was a made in heaven show, every single aspect was perfect.

I'm sure that it's no secret who, and what era Stones I'm most partial to cuz of my name ... but I, for one, also love both the Mick T & Ronnie years, and also respect what they both have done for the band!! They both came along at the right time, and brought their talents and expertise to the table. This is just my opinion, of course ...

I am a huge Ron Wood fan, but I love to see also Taylor back in the line up. He is a great musician. And in his worse day a WAY better guitar player than Blondie or Mick Jagger.

I'm happy too. Mick Taylor is a great musician. His Sway final solo is pureley a wonder. And it's just an exemple. Nothing comparable with Ronnie. Anywhere... Sorry, I prefer Taylor, by far. I will not apologize for that.
I do not blame Ronnie, it is also a question of composition quality. Taylor has the chance to express his huge talent on exceptional tracks.

The above clip with MT playing with the Dead on West LA Fadeway is amazing again when MT has a chance to play with a great band he shines and puts his stamp on the song. MT played with Dicky Betts way back on Southbound and I always wondered he would of been a great fit in a jam band like the Allman Brothers and the Dead instead of doing gigs here and there over the 40 years.

If/when I think things are substandard and medicore, I am gone. I dont stick around to whine about it. If I thought the Stones sucked like these peopple do, I would be gone long ago, but THE STONES DONT SUCK. I wonder, do these people even watch and listen? Or did they quit listening/watching when Taylor quit and they have been whining ever since?
The Stones have been great for a long time... but no amount of logic will sway the pesimistic opinions of those who are stuck in a rut loving/living to bitch, whine moan and groan and complain.... it is just what some people do. They live/love to say "I HATE THE BAND, IT IS SUBSTANDARD AND MEDICORE, BUT I WILL KEEP POSTING ON THEIR WEBSITE, BECAUSE I LOVE/LIVE TO WHINE"

It was a simple comparison between two guitar players.
Nobody said the Stones as a band suck with (or without) Ronnie.
The bottom line: The Stones will always be a great band with the core members of Keith, Mick, and Charlie.
They always have been great, and they always will...no matter who is playing "second fiddle".
If I missed, or misread, your point then I am sorry, but I thought I read you say
" I think VT22 summed it all up quite nicely with "quality vs. quantity".
In other words: Five years of excellence and superiority vs. nearly 40 years of substandardness and mediocrity."
That is what was written, but again it was related to a simple comparison between two guitar players...nothing to do with the band as a whole
With that said, I'm not ashamed to admit I prefer the MT era vs. anything that has come after, but I'm not saying everything that came after that era sucked.
As you mentioned...there's been many years of touring and great concerts since MT left the band.

Cool man,,,COOL! Vegas!! Be sure to get a Stones chip while you are, if they offer them. One of the few souveniers to always be worth what you paid.

I saw The Stones in Nijmegen back in 95, both days, it was awesome! We were front of the barricade, and it really was a made in heaven show, every single aspect was perfect.
