I think one of the problems with "new" material is that things have changed so much in how music is listened to these days...when I was growing up a new album by the Beatles or Stones was something incredibly anticipated-- when it came out you would play that thing until you wore it out-- you knew every track like the back of your hand..its not like that anymore. People listen to specific tracks and don't spend the time needed to get familiar with an entire album.
When you got a new Beatles / Stones album in the 60's-70's it was a complete package: the cover art, the music inside, the credits, sometimes a poster, sometimes pictures. postcards, the credits, it was all a complete package. There really was nothing cooler at the time. today too many choices, too much technology, not enough interest. From the Artist or the consumer
And that's why I think new material has a tough time being introduced in a concert setting.

Mick Jagger has admitted that there’s virtually no point in trying to work the two new Rolling Stones songs into the set
Safe to say Start Me Up will be the newest song in the set list? How does that celebrate a career that has supposedly lasted 50 years?

What Mick really means is that the money the Stones would earn from a new album is not worth the time and effort required to make one. They can make more doing one two-hour concert than they would spending six months writing and recording a new Stones album. They also have absolutely no desire to spend that much time in each other's company.

By the way: How many fans wanted a SuperHeavy album? 12?

Will the Stones record again?
Mick Jagger - "I'm working all the time, doing songs and writing. I hope there will be another Stones album. It would be good if there was."

Their new stuff is a bit of a letdown but if they sat down and recorded some bluesy stuff for their real fans and quit trying to appeal to today's youth it could be interesting.

Thanks. It's all open business now. (Intersting stuff Jagger says of Keith's idea of going out as like a blues man, and generally of the difference between blues and rock and roll.)

I completely disagree. The new material has a tough time because it's NOWHERE NEAR AS GOOD as the classics, hits or warhorses. IF they were, then the crowd would be WANTING to hear them. Period. It's THAT simple.
HOW is this SO HARD for some of you to UNDERSTAND???

I don't agree with that anyway, I like hearing new stuff live.
Well, then just like me, you are probably not a fan
No, I'm not a Real Fan either.

If they totally give up on new albums then they really do look like a nostalgia act imo.

I agree. To me a nostalgia act is what you see on those PBS doo wop type shows. Nothing wrong with that but ABB (like it or loathe it) sold 2.5 million copies worldwide. That's not a nostalgia act.
