Mick Jagger - vocals, harmonica
Keith Richards - electric guitar
Charlie Watts - drums
Bill Wyman - bass
Brian Jones - electric guitar

Bright lights, big city
I went to my baby's head
Oh, bright lights, the big city
I went to my baby's head
Well, I tried to tell the woman, she damn believed the words I said

Go ahead pretty baby
You need my help some day
Oh, go ahead pretty baby
Gonna need my help some day
You're gonna wish you hadn’t listened to some of those things I said

Go ahead pretty baby
Honey knock yourself out
Oh, go ahead pretty baby
Honey knock yourself out
Well, I tried to tell the woman but she don’t know what it’s all about

Bright lights, big city
I went to my baby's head
Oh, the bright lights, the big city
I went to my baby's head
Well, I tried to tell the woman but she don’t believe a thing I said

Produced by Glyn Johns

First released on:
The Rolling Stones - “Grrr!” 5CD
(Abkco / Polydor / Universal 3712341) UK, November 9, 2012

Does this official release sound much better than the boots that have circulated for years?

It doesn't sound like a bootleg but YMMV.

I love it but the version by Them is ace also.

Unfortunately thos peticular track is taken from an acetate on the official release. The boot sounds better IMO.

I've got the Boot "Bright Lights-Big City" on vinyl on my turntable right now and the track Brights Lights-Big City sounds pretty good.
Great rocking song

Bright Lights-Big City-I do have 2 boot vinyls with the same lyrics, as seen in the clip one with the RS black/white photo and the other the RS color/Brian with guitar.

THEM did a faster, proto-garage version (tell me Iggy didn't hear this!):

The Animals with Eric Burdon played it, and not too shabby, either :

Great memories from the past !

Are those GRRR credits the same as in Bill´s "Rolling With The Stones" for the five IBC demos?

Bright Lights Big City is a superb track showing the early Stones in their prime!thumbs up

Jay McInerney interviewed Mick Jagger for ESQUIRE MAGAZINE around the time McInerney's novel BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CITY was the literary sensation of the 80's. McInerney said (paraphrase from memory), "When Jagger and I met, he told me he had read my novel, which made me very pleased. And then he asked me, `Where did you get the title for your Goddamned book?' I told Jagger, `I got it from an old Stones live bootleg on which the Stones play the Jimmy Reed tune, `Bright Lights, Big City.'"

No.

This is The Rolling Stones.

The original blues band.

Before became rock'n'roll stars.

Fantastic!

jimmy reed wrote about 4 or 5 templates for songs and made a distinguished career out of it. i can listen to jimmy for hours and hours and hours. i always imagine him being propped up on the stage, so as to not fall over...apparently that was an issue for him....

No, only a short story by Richard Havers (Rolling With The Stones) about the recordings.
He states that Mick plays harmonica on Bright Lights Big City and Honey What's Wrong and Brian on Diddley Daddy and I Want To Be Loved.

I haven't heard the official version.
Can't believe you hear acetate crackles on it!
It is as amateurishly done as the "The Rest Of The Best” compilation!
