Of course not, and even if I had, you don't think I'd actually announce it here do you, to you miserable bunch of whining s**ts !! ?? winking smiley

Had to say something about the announcement.....it's now been 9 hours since you last hadn't heard anything. How much longer are you going to keep not hearing anything in order not to tell us anything we don't already not know about ? We Ambassadors must tell all !!

Satisfied since 1976

I think we need musical interludes while we wait, but more like what you get when the Doctor's office puts you on hold. Every once in a while, an automated voice comes on to tell you how much longer it's going to be.

Rolling Stones 2013 U.S. Tour: AEG In, Paul Dainty/Virgin Out, Sources Say

NEWS

By Ray Waddell, Nashville | March 19, 2013 7:00 PM EDT

A deal for Australian promoter Paul Dainty and Virgin Music to promote a North American Rolling Stones tour of a confirmed 18 shows has fallen through, and AEG Live has stepped in to promote the shows, sources tell Billboard. The Stones will still roll and an announcement for the tour -- which still has not been officially confirmed -- will likely come before the end of the month.

Billboard.biz said in a March 7 article that Dainty/Virgin would promote the run, and sources confirm that a deal was in place. But now sources say the promoters couldn’t come to financial terms with the band on a guarantee believed to be in the $80 million range. According to sources, AEG got the deal done today, even after AEG CEO Tim Leiweke stepped down on Thursday.

Dainty and Virgin ponied up an estimated $25 million to present the band’s 50th Anniversary shows late last year at the O2 in London, Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Those five shows grossed a total of $38,687,010 and sold 73,702 tickets. While that would seem like a strong profit, margins on Stones shows are especially tight, given the huge production values and other show costs; a pay-per-view live broadcast from the Newark show that was part of the deal did less-than-spectacular business, according to sources.

The deal for Dainty to promote this year’s shows was agreed to in principle, and the promoter tried to bring together a wide range of other promoters for financial support, but ultimately Dainty couldn’t deliver a deal that was palatable to the band.

Reps for AEG and Dainty could not be reached for comment at press

No longer at all, they've totally defeated me. I'm off to see Justin Bieber, he's much better at this whole announcing business ........... the RS should take note of the professionality of his PR machine, MJ in particular !!

Yep, I'm going with a completely open mind as regards McCartney Jr, but it'll be great to see Ronnie in any case.

So if the 5 shows in Nov/Dec were 25million, that's 5 mill each show. 5x18 shows = 90 mill. These shows will indeed cost less than the December shows...!

Wow, that's pretty scary, hard to see how prices could be in the $50/$400 range with a guarantee like that, essentially the same per show as for the 50th.

I wonder if the "sweetener" that convinced AEG to bite the bullet aren't the two rumoured BSC Hyde Park concerts since they are promoting that event...maybe the Stones threw them in "for free" after getting the $80 million they wanted like they threw in the 08/12 concert for Dainty/Branson when the PPV wasn't selling as well as expected.

So what's that big tour Branson was going to be tweeting about ? ;-)

Interesting that the article says the PPV did "less than spectacular" business. That might be an indication of their broader appeal as a live act, once you get past the rich fans and tourists.

Right now it seems to be all about the money. Literally.
Hopefully the music will still matter when it's all said and done.

Well it depends what happens with the $80m.

I mean, 80m divided by 18 shows, divided by let's say 16,000 per venue, equals $277 per ticket.

However, AEG would need to make some money.

Also, are the production costs and payroll for all the extra musicians, crew etc to be taken out of the $80m?

With $80m for 18 shows we end up with the same "salary" for the Stones like last year. I don't really see why they should go on stage for less now. There is always going forward, not backward. I don't want to defend prices, but I think one could have anticipated that.

All I care is about, that AEG Live seems to be the knew promoter. Which is good and kind of strengthens the Hyde Park rumors, since AEG is the promoter of the Barclaycard British Summer Time Festival. Hyde Park tickets should be less expensive.

Poor Richard Branson...tweeted about "big touring news soon" last week. Obviously these news aren't that big anymore.

Well, not to despair. We'll just go and see James McCartney 20 times instead. That's £400 right there, so we'd still have change enough for a soft drink out of what was the cost a single RS ticket for the November 2012 O2 show !! winking smiley

Re: Countdown to The Rolling Stones 2013 Tour

I think a reason to decrease prices is that the five shows were a test case for a tour.
Some thought they could be the last performances.

For a real tour, however mini, following these, the demand could be a bit lower.
I'm still hoping for a range of 50-450. Then too, I wish for an announcement
soon, well, whatever that means.

Angee,
I'd have no problem paying $500+ if we ended up in the same section/rows we did at the PPV show---couldn't be any closer without being in the pit.....
If that area is good enough for Bruce and Johnny Depp, it's good enough for me. (Section 11, closest to the stage- supposed to be obstructed/rear view, but other than not seeing the screen all the time, very good sightlines.) Maybe the sound is better out front and center, but I like being on the side and seeing the stuff that goes on behind the amps and in the areas that most people can't see....kinda like you are backstage.)

Obviously very few if any business majors posting here.

I like the math in a few posts. My company grossed $600 million last year. We have 2000 employees. Why doesn’t each employee make $300,000?

Unfortunately though, you'd be in the rather uncomfortable position of having to see James McCartney 20 times.

I get what you're saying, but my question was, do AEG guarantee / offer Mick, Keith, Charlie & Ronnie the $80million, so it's literally $20m for each Stone, or do they just guarantee them $80m in total revenue from ticket sales, merch, sponsorship etc..., and so all costs come out of the $80m, so the $80m is the gross revenue from the tour.

to me the discussion about the Promotor/Sponsor is a bid strange and my conclusion is: As long as the guarantees are not agreed and the promotor/sponsor is not set they is also no final schedule of the concerts or even an announcement. From the day Virgin was mentioned for the 4 concerts last year (which ended in 5) to the announcement was at least several weeks time.
