OT - The Fabulous Jimmie Lee Vaughan's myocardial infarction
Posted by: Munichhilton ()

Jimmie graciously allowed his band to open for the Stones a couple times in 1981.
Fun guitar player if you've never seen him...

Texas Blues guitar legend Jimmie Vaughan has had to cancel a string of concert dates including the Mahindra Blues Festival in India after suffering a heart attack last week (January 23, 2013)

In a post on the festival’s website stated in part: “Jimmie Vaughan was admitted to Pomona Hospital Medical Center on January 23rd, 2013 with an acute myocardial infraction (heart attack). He had a coronary angioplasty and stent placement. He is still in the hospital but recovering and has been advised by his cardiologist to rest at home for a month.”

He’s a founding member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds and is the big brother of late Blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Get well soon Jimmie!

fab t-birds were my fave band there back in their early daze. mike buck (and then fran christina) with keith ferguson were a crack rhythm section. jimmie's lost a lot of his chops over the years, unfortunately. he plays around town here, mostly freebies. still has the look....he'll be back.

How ironic. A week ago I was speaking with a young man who is the music director at my church. He told me that his dad was the bassist for Jimmie's band for many years. I looked it up and, sure enough, Tommy Carter is the guy. I've spoken with him on many occasions but had no idea of his past.

Missing some chops, and missing some picks.
Last time JLV hit up Antone's I asked for his pick he tossed 30 of 'em at me...

Now if only Dale Watson would follow suit...

I loved it when Jimmie Vaughn and Lou Ann Barton teamed up what a duo.

Get well and take care of yourself and get plenty or rest.

Lou Ann Barton was the vocalist in the original line-up of "Double Trouble", Johnny Reno was on sax too...

He is not the best guitarist, but approaches the music with great respect and love. I like his stuff. I like that he has never tried to be Stevie and Stevie never tried to be Jimmy. Saw him once. The line-up was:

J. Geils and Magic Dick's Bluestime
Jimmy Vaughn
Etta James
BB King

Great show

Is it possible you just annoyed him and he was trying to hurt you?

Possible?
My good Canadian read the post again...
I was beered up and screaming his name 3 feet away from him in a half empty blues bar...

Wait, is that why Dale won't follow suit?

i have that on vinyl - but the vinyl is badly warped. on she's tuff enough...kim wilson just keeps laughing and laughing and laughing...it gets annoying after a few hours, so i eventually take the needle off and put on something else.
