The Stone You'd Most Like to Have Dinner With, and Why

This was prompted by another thread, but let's have it, folks. My first choice is Ron Wood. Why? Because he seems to be the closest to my own personality, is smart, good-humored and down-to-earth, and because he has the most interesting musical pedigree of all the Stones' members. He and Jo have become avid vegetarians, and Jo is known as an excellent cook. What more needs to be said? It would be a dream come true for me.

I'd very much like to eat with Keith Richards. Just sitting there eating sheperds pie and talking blues, reggae, soul and gospel. It would be awesome. And I also think that Keith's personality would suit me. And he's a smoker just like me. So I reckon we could have a few laughs together. But this is merely a dream.........

Yeah, I'd thought about dinner with Keith, but I think we'd both tire of me saying, "Excuse me? What did you say?" LOL. I don't think I'd have that problem with Ronnie--he's really articulate.

Keith - as long as didnt smoke.

Mick, because by the look of him, he doesnt eat much. All the more for me.

Charlie would be my choice because he's never thought of himself as a Rock Star. He's never had an ego that needed to be stroked and after all these years is probably the only one who has remained the same person (personality wise). I'll bet he has some great stories about life on the road and the fact he's well off financially from watching Mick's bum all these years.

I'm not your drummer, you're my @#$%& singer

Chuck Leavell, of course. After dinner I would give him some great advice on songs to play on the forthcoming tour. I'd persuade him to choose Time waits for no one, Salt of the earth, Moonlight Mile, Sweet black angel, Coming down again etc, etc.........

Chuck doesnt need persuaded to play them. He suggests lesser known songs to Mick all the time. Mick simply doesnt have the balls to play that many of them. Fact

Just persuade Chuck to stop playing at all

Mick, because I think he's the most sympathetic of them all. I also think he can talk about everything.

But I chose Keith if I have to hang out at 5 in the morning in a local pub.

I thought we were to discontinue with the bashing of Chuck. Mick and Keith have hired him to play the piano because they obviously think he's talented. Therfore you should blame them instead of Mr Leavell. I don't think that's such a big issue anyway.

As far as I'm concerned, the Pope or some other prat could play the keyboards, as long as the boys get back on the road asap.

LOL. JP II on keyboards. What a surreal image. At least it wont be Keith who's getting most of the press attention anymore for looking old!

Charlie, He has that dry sense of humor and doesnt take himself seriously. I would like to know more about his other interests i.e. Jazz, Horses, ect.

I would say Keith. I would not choose Charlie because I don't think he would have much interest in talking about the things I would want to talk about, Rock n' roll, life on the road, crazy experiences and so on. I say this because he doesn't like the rock star thing and seems not talk about it unless he has to. Keith on the other hand has more crazy experiences than anyone and is not shy about discussing them. Although it would be interesting to chat with Mick. But my vote still goes to Keith.

Keith because he seems like someone you would have a blast with over dinner...simple as that. Plus he seems the most "grounded" out of all the Stones.

uh ... that last sentence ... made myself laugh but it's the truth!

Probably Keith. Its obvious he loves to conversate and he does not hold things back, so it seems. His memory seems pretty good and he likes to talk about how records were made, who did what, how ideas came about and seems pretty well read on many other topics.

Charlie and Ron would be equally second choices. Charlie just has such a different perspective on things I would love to hear stories from his viewpoint.

Ronnie, from everything I have read about him is just a natural extrovert and I am sure would be a great conversation.

Mick would be last only because the word on him is that he is cagey and evasive at times. I think Charlie, Ron and Keith would answer you straight, where as Mick may be a little more protective, even though I would love to hear his viewpoints.

I'll stick with Ron, but I'd have to brush up on my British humour. I could see dinner with Ron as turning into a Peter Cook/Dudley Moore routine.

Ron: "And, for dessert, something special--frog and peach."
Me: "I thought you were vegetarian?"
Ron: "Yes, umm, well, you see, we scraped out the frog's insides, and peeled the peach, so it's a peach wrapped in frogskin".
Me, uneasily: "Oh, ahem, that makes it all kosher, then."
Ron: "Kosher? Sorry, no, we're not Jewish."

Stu. Anybody who could open the door to the band's dressing room and say, "Awrite me little free code wunduh, yer on!", or "C'mon me little share o'shit, it's toime ta dew th' show", is somebody I'd buy lunch for anyday.

Next would be Chollie. The rest can go f*ck. Too much money, too many drugs, too much ego. I ain't got no time fer poseurs, mon.
