PPV broadcast DEC 15 questions & comments
Posted by: leftbank ()

For those in the US, I ordered the PPV for 12/15, at $39 Comcast - but they also had an HD choice at $49! Rather high, and can only view once. Hope to make a DVD - any issues?? It is at 8:30 EST, or in UK GMT at 4:30 AM. At a much cheaper price?

Still haven't decided if I want to blow $40 on something I can get for free shortly thereafter.

I have Comcast internet, but no cable. I have a Roku device (for those familiar with those). Anyone know if I have an option to watch it on my television as opposed to my laptop? I just can't fathom paying $40 to watch it on a little computer, and my tv doesn't have a USB hook-up.

$44.99 on Time Warner HD. So much cheaper than $45. Thanks, guys. That's the equivalent of half my monthly cable bill to watch 2 hours (part of which I will be paying to see artists not even remotely associated with The Rolling Stones and whom I have less-than-ZERO interest in paying to see). OR download it for free. Such a tough choice.

Yahoo PPV...help please.

I do not have the channels that will deliver the PPV service tomorrow in Spain, and not time to install them.

So, I will go with Yahoo but its the first time I do it. I see its just 8 USD so quite good price if it works.

The idea is to connect the PC to the big TV screen. Would it be as easy as that? Just pay to Yahoo and get access to it?

Anyone has experience with this and tell me how it works?

I saw them in London but dont want to miss the PPV tomorrow...but want to watch it in a big screen and not in the computer.

Thanks, Garbie.

Hi Garbie,
I am not sure about connecting your PC to your TV. That depends on the equipment you have.
My laptop can easily be connected to my TV because they both have an HDMI connection. Just one cable and it's done. Works perfectly.

If your computer has an HDMI or other video out it's just a matter of finding the right cable. It shouldn't be a problem but probably you will have to change the screen resolution settings on your PC to match your TV.

Thanks RH. Yes, thats the idea, an HDMI cable an its done and with the home cinema system should sound well (sorry for my neighbours as it will start at 03:00 Spanish time...).

My question is more about the Yahoo PPV service. I just pay and get a code or something to use before the concert start? No idea how it works and havent found clear info...just the way to pay is clear...

Thanks,
Garbie.

No problem with that...with 3 girls at home (4, 4 and 2 years), my wife is an expert in conecting the PC to any TV to get cartoons for them!

LOL Garbie, looks like you have the same problem as me.
I went to the rollingstones.com/Yahoo site [rs50.neulion.com] and payed and registered.
Got a confirmation email with a link to login.
That link takes me to the same page to pay and/or login ???
I can only hope it will work when the show goes live.

I'm expecting it to be like that. If you login today you see the latest video that was added to the Yahoo-Stones-Page. As soon as the event starts, there should be another slot for the stream. That's why I'm so glad about the 1 hour Pre-Show-Movie: It means we all have a confirmed time to set the alarm clock winking smiley

I hope Yahoo have a TON of bandwidth lined up. For the 121212 show they weren't streaming very high, around 2Mbps for 480p, YouTube Fuse went up to 720p/3Mbps and even 1080i (didn't try that).

Fuse were a fine source, I enjoyed the quality as you describe. Yahoo had better be delivering a better product this weekend than 2mbps for 480p, it highlights HD Quality on the Stones Site. Lets hope 720p at least.

I've seen the price fluctuating for the Online PPV it was initially offerred in Australasia for $14.99 NZD it's now $20.99 USD, so they are obviously creaming the cash on this endeavour

I am still trying to decide if I want to drop the $40 on this PPV concert. It really hurts me to say it, but I think I'm going to have to pass. I just pray it is released on dvd or I can find it for download. I was hoping it'd be closer to $15 or $20.
