A little disappointed...
Posted by: sonyzzz ()

I don't know, saw the video for Doom and Gloom, I think the director tried to
hard to make the band hip. Heads blowing off, Zombies, shirt less young girls.
The black and white images of the band playing were great. These guys are legends,
they didn't need that stuff...

Videos are not currently as important as they were in the past (pre-internet era).If they were I'm sure it would have been far better. It seems it has been filmed in autopilot (except for Mick who does his best).

I think it's a great video simply because that song is great....Same case with Dylans Duquesne whistle...

These two videos have otherwise too much violence in general....

Agree, too much violence. Duquesne Whistle video also came to mind for me... use of violence jsut to grab attention is pretty cheap to my mind.

The video illustrates the lyrics. Blame Mick...

I thought it was good, and making the Stones relevant again, for the first time in 29 years.

I think it is a great clip. Just wish they would slow the general editing a little. Only corny scene was the head exploding !!

wow, my exact thoughts. While I liked the cuts, they were just a touch too fast, could have been slightly longer. The head exploding was a bit of an eye roll...other than that it is enjoyable to watch.

I feel the same, don't like this clip at all, but the song is really great. My teenage children love it though. Maybe they wanted to reach the younger generations?

For me, strangely, it's the opposite. I can't say I love the video, but come on: Stones doing it once again! There's nudity and gun violence on Vevo/Youtube, and the video is still up. Try uploading some boobs on youtube - gone in 60 seconds, normally. Not with the Stones. And that's kinda cool, them still breaking the rules, because they can.

It was a fun video and a very good song but I think that's a bit of a stretch, to put it mildly...

All that zombie crap is( my suspicions only) just Mick trying to be "hip" and letting the younguns know he's aware of whats "cool" haha..kinda like slipping that stupid rap crap in the middle of "Anybody Seen My Baby' all those years ago now..we're all grown up now, Mick (us and especially you!) so why dont you guys just shoot a video of performing the song.. hey!!!what a concept

Even if they really look rock'n'old in it, I like the song and the video.

I am bid fan of violence in movies, TV and on screen in general. Has no bearing on real life so have at it.

Violence on the news is a lot more disturbing than cinematic violence.

I felt more distressed watching a child having his foot shot off in Rowanda, than watching Hostel. It's the suspension of disbelief that causes people to tolerate violent movies; you just know that the events in Hostel wouldn't really take place.

I am always mindful of Robert Fisk, who stated that if people really saw what happened in a war, on television, there'd be no more wars.

Well, I know what you mean, but keep in mind:

- The world is doomed (21 dec) according to the Mayans
- The world actually IS doomed, because of greed and exploitation winking smiley

A serious message + poking a little fun Stones-style + the doom and gloom-reality (environment, poverty, wars +++) makes at least the video somewhat relevant.

The video doesnt have to be "relevant" to world events...its only r n r...

Doesn't have to, but in a way it is...

That's a bit hard...Ron and Keith are supposed to stand behind their guitars and Charlie is behind the drums..what else are they gonna do?

Hated the editing, it's like the director just assumes everyone has an attention span of 2 seconds.
