There was a great after party at The Standard Hotel's Penthouse Club in the meatpacking district with all four Stones, Elvis Costello, Angelica Huston, Lorne Michaels (Saturday Night Live TV) and a bevy of international models!

Thanks for the posting, all. I love Mick's green velvet suit, best red carpet look I've seen on him for a while, his shoes are even OK. They all look great, Ronnie even looks like he has gained a few needed pounds.

Wish I could have been there...once spent a whole day in front of that theater for, of all things, a Harry Potter premiere with my then Ron Weasley obsessed pre-teen.

The Mick of time

Last Updated: 12:58 AM, November 14, 2012

Mick Jagger made a topical David Petraeus joke when he introduced HBO’s new doc “The Rolling Stones: Crossfire Hurricane” at the Ziegfeld Theatre last night. “There’s a lot of change in America since we first came here,” quipped Jagger, who appeared with his bandmates. “This film . . . takes you back to a younger, perhaps gentler, America. An America where only IBM and the military had computers. Where there [were] no smart phones . . . no e-mails. And a simpler America, where we didn’t read other people’s e-mails, so we didn’t know four-star generals were having affairs.” And Jagger’s guitarist Ronnie Wood told us, “The main thing is the music we’re making now is the good [bleep].”

Mick Jagger Jokes About the Low Price HBO Paid for Documentary

11/14/12 12:14am Roger Friedman

And so “Crossfire Hurricane,” the documentary about the early days of the Rolling Stones, had its premiere last night at the Ziegfeld Theater. The Stones appeared– Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Charlie Watts. Their combined ages are 405. Anyway, they looked pretty good. Interestingly, as they were exiting up the aisle at the Ziegfeld, someone started yelling, “Ronnie Wood!” Keith Richards, the most amiable of the group, chuckled right back: “Hey Ronnie, you’ve been recognized!”
Standing before the crowd, Jagger spoke for the group–natch. He joked about the low price HBO paid for the film, directed by Brett Morgen. The film is an editing triumph that starts very strong and kind of tails off at the end. It finishes really in 1972 with “Exile on Main Street,” then lurches forward to “Miss You” in 1978 and shows a bit of Martin Scorsese’s “Shine a Light” from 2008. What happened to all the other years since ’72? No one knows. It just ends. But Stones fans will see a lot of great lost footage creatively combined to make for an entertaining film. “Crossfire Hurricane” debuts on HBO on Thursday.
Afterwards, the Stones had a strictly no press party at the Top of the Standard. That doesn’t bode well for the three dates they’re playing in the New York area. It’s hard to say who exactly attended the party since there were no celebs at the screening.
The Stones may not have known they were being skunked, celebrity wise, about 14 blocks south. Paul McCartney’s son-in-law, Simon Aboud (married to successful photographer Mary), was screening a feature film he directed at the Bryant Park Hotel. So it was really a Stones vs. Beatles night in New York, although no one knew it.

The Rolling Stones Attend NYC Premiere of New Documentary, "Crossfire Hurricane"
ABC News Radio

The Rolling Stones were in New York City on Tuesday night for the U.S. premiere of their documentary, Crossfire Hurricane, which chronicles the rise of the band, beginning in the early 1960s. It debuts on HBO Thursday.
On the red carpet, frontman Mick Jagger said he is "pleased" with how the movie turned out. He added, "I think it's really good, it's really interesting. It will show a lot of things that people don't know even though they think they know but they don't."
It would be difficult for drummer Charlie Watts to agree, because he refuses to watch the film. He explained to ABC News Radio, "I won't stay and watch it now either because I don't like looking at myself."
As the Stones commemorate their 50th anniversary, they're preparing for five concerts in London and in the New York area over the next month. How are rehearsals coming along? Keith Richards declared, "We're in fifth gear now, baby....It's rocking."

What's up with Keith's hair? When he was young, it was straight, then when it started going grey but dyeing it, it was very curly, now he has given up the dye, it is straight again.

Was he getting perms for awhile?

Meaning ? No freebies for the press? Now that's sad...not, or is that a "message" to management?

That's interesting. 405. 50 and not able to count?

Elvis has become quite the Stones fan. I saw him at the Beacon for the Shine A Light filming as well.

That would make them 'on average' a trifle over 101 years of age each. Unless they happen to be counting Darryl or Chuck in that!

Never understood that "combined age" stat the press likes to throw around. Who lives to be 405, anyway? With that stat you can make a group of kids sound old. A group of four 15 year olds has a combined age of 60--almost time to retire by the sound of it. How about just averaging the numbers instead?

Lazy journalists see a phrase they like and then repeat it to death.
