My little brother was 49. Less than a month ago I was standing with him in Indiana and he was talking about how excited he was for me about the rumoured Stones shows. He was talking about how the shows way back in 1981 at the Pontiac Silverdome that I took him to were his first concerts and how he still had great memories of the shows. He was 18 then.He said it was one of the best nights he had ever had. Before I flew back to New Zealand , I told him that if there were US shows again in 2013 I would take him to one.
They found him at home today in bed, gone from a massive heart attack. It will never happen like we talked about. Life turns on a dime. My little brother knew how to have a good time, and while never the picture of success, he had a heart as big as the sky. All I can ask that anyone who reads this with a beer in hand, stop for a second and think "Here's to you Nicky, I never knew you, but R.I.P."
Let's drink to the hard working people....
