True that,l don't know what kind of paper The Daily Mail is,it could be a gossip rag ala New York Post,but the statement defenetely sounds like the kind of BS that Keith loves to spout....

Yeah, I don't know that we can really blame The Daily Mail for Keith Richards now standard dose of nonsense.

To me it sounds like he didn't know about the concrete DATES. Of course he knew they were rehearsing for the purpose of going on a stage in the near future. Didn't somebody state here recently, that the concrete dates were made by the promoter, the band just has to keep a time frame free of other business? Keith said, he believed they booked gigs in London and New York a week ago, didn't he? Maybe that was shortly after he got the news of confirmed dates. But I wonder if Mick knew more before.

Ronnie did say several months ago Mick told him to keep November and December open, so that makes sense.

Maybe even the Barclays Centre was really an option until some time ago, so that's where the rumour about that venue might have come from. It's possible, the way it turned out now just developed recently. So I don't thinks it's necessarily bullshit from Keith.

This would confirm (and it seems reasonable) that everything has depended on Jagger. Jagger has appraised, evaluated his own (ant the rest of the band's) abilitiy to tour. Jagger would have also appraised for instance late Keith perfomance on stage and the budget, income statement of the next gigs and so on. Then ultimately his decision would have been confirmed to Keith at the las minute. Just a thought.

If he didn't hear about Taylor doing the quick overdub, that shouldn't be so strange?

I dont know how their dynamic really works, but I can sympathize that at some point in a deal, if one is making good money, and things are moving forward, then maybe there is no real point in exerting lot of effort arguing and battling about things, only to have them wind up the same basic way in the end. Maybe Keith learned from 1983-1988... maybe he learned "why fight about it?" maybe just go along, to get along. I dont know.

The promoters let the band know the dates, and that was probably what Keith was talking about. It would be the same for Mick.

If (for instance) 1981 tour (to some people the last "classic" stones one: debatable) needed to be thoroughly prepared (in their fashion...) in Long View Farm...I wonder if they are currently musically fit, having had so little time to work together...

Why would he know about the tour ? - Keith is not the promoter and he's not the manager of the band - the concrete dates were made by the promoter, - I'm sure he knew they were going to do something and play somewhere, but why would the artist take care of the business side of things, when they have professional managers, agents, promoters, lawyers, assistants, etc etc ..to take care of the biz.

The exact dates were not signed off until recently. But I am sure Keith had a reason for being at the rehearsals...

Keith found out the exact same second as Mick about the dates, approved the extortionate ticket prices and doesn't give a flying f**k who can or can't afford to see him pretend to play guitar for ninety minutes.
