Re: Are Keith and Charlie on "Doom and Gloom"?

In the Itunes version it clearly is Charlie -you hear his signature opening of the hi-hat on the 4, and his china crashes are there. There's some fills, but he keeps it simple and he's mixed fairly low in the mix. For the lyrics version they wiped all of Charlie except for the kick drum, which is used to build the sampled and looped drum and percussion pattern.

Richards is there I believe, although most of what he is playing since ABB can be duplicated by many. But several of his 'signature' rhythm playing riffs are there -the pull-offs on the A string, the Can't You Hear Me Knocking bends on the 3 and 4.

To me the mix dulls out the song, just as the mix and mastering of ABB mix it a very unpleasent listen. Everything is LOUD, the vocals, the guitars ,everything is screaming in your ears continuesly. I listened to ABB in the car the other day and I really was fed up listening to it after 30 minutes -I couldn't take Charlie's china on my ears anymor, it was mixed so goddamn upfront and loud.

I think so.

You can hear the doubling at certain points where Charlie and the machine are slightly out of time.

(Human drummers eh).

Sounds cool.

Well I think so.

Jim Keltner used to be a machine in the 80ies, on every album released....

Like on Ronnie's "1234", together with Charlie thumbs up

Nothing wrong with sounding simple...Listen to Charlie in "Dead Flowers" simple yet perfect!

My 51 year old ears say YES its Keith.

Sounds "Goats Head Soup" era to me, even though Mick Taylor was with them at that time frame.

I'll buy it when the CD comes out.

What about Blondie?? Maybe it's him ?
Or Pierre? Could be him! Waddy--yes---could be!

Satriani? Jimmy Ripp? Jeff Beck? Harvey Mandel? Wayne Perkins? Peter Frampton? Hank Marvin!, Jimmy Page ?, Pete Townsend (he's on vox). Clapton!

No no no. it's Robert Plant playing the part of KR.

no wait.....I go it..................it's Mick Taylor!!!!!!!!!!!! drinking smiley

At least they put out a rocker instead of some lame ballad.

As to KRs playing, we all know he don't play much anymore. Anything other than slowly planned 2-3 finger riffs just ain't going to be him.
