You can fill your life up with ideas and still go home lonely.
All you really have that really matters are feelings!
That's what music is to me. JANIS JOPLIN

What a powerful great voice and talent she was. She was too good, maybe that's why she had to leave early. Like a few others from her generation. Hope she's having a good time up there. I suspect it's a kind of eternal woodstock. That's what I like to think anyhow.

Thanks for your posts about Janis Joplin.
She died 42 years ago and what i heard was that usually She had her stuff checked
but not this time and it was pure! What a Great loss, nobody comes near Her with that Voice. Janis left us with great records to listen to and there's a nice trainride movie with lots of great Musicians. I drink one on Janis right now and cheers

+1 on that.... Cheers smileys with beer

Janis helped lay some foundation for those to come in the future....
without Janis?.... who knows what/who else might not have happened?

If theres a rock and roll heaven, you know they got a helluva band.

duke richardson

thanks for your filmpost.
It's gonna be a tough one to perform the sexual rockandroll power of Janis, i hope the actrice had a walk on the wild side!
we'll see about this movie.

yeah, have not seen any of Ms Arianda's work

seems like they've had some difficulty

finding an actress capable of credibly portraying Janis Joplin...

gonna be the same when down the road the inevitable movie about the Stones gets made...

Here's a fantastic tribute to Janis from Joss Stone and Melissa Etheridge:

Another 'forever 27' who passed away too early.

I drive by the seedy hotel she ODed at on Franklin in Hollywood from time to time. I think of her when having a beer at the original Barney's Beanery, her last stop before going back to her room and shooting up. A fantastic entertainer. As a female she had to live with the burden of being attractive too, something her male counterparts didn't have to carry. She was quite sexy and hot at times, sometimes not. But she was an explosive performer. Piece of My Heart is one of the top ten rock vocal performances of all time.

could it have been in this position Cohen found her on Chelsea Hotel?

this is the truth right there. so much power and emotion in her voice. my 2 favorite songs she did are "kozmic blues" and "maybe"

Very tragic that she passed away at such a young age. Doesn't matter if she was a salesclerk or The Most Overrated Singer in Rock History.
