Hey all,
I'm going on a road trip down south soon and was wondering if anyone had a list of the Stones country songs. I know almost the entire album of Let It Bleed is perfect. I know most of them, just looking for some hidden country gems.

Dear Doctor
Factory Girl
Country Honk
You Got The Silver
Dead Flowers
Wild Horses
Sweet Virginia
Torn and Frayed
Loving Cup
Far Away Eyes
Indian Girl
Do You Think I Really Care
No Spare Parts
We Had It All
You Win Again
Blinded By Love

cool list Jordy; you could probably include No Expectations in there I'm thinking.
i'm not too sure of the grey zone where country and country blues might differ though.

Evening Gown - come on, can I cheat and say this ?

Party Doll, also Mick solo, was covered by Mary Chapin-Carpenter.

This posting reminds me of that episode of The Sopranos, when Tony and Uncle Junior are at the golf course, and Tony hears what Uncle Junior likes to do amorously.

Most if not all of these are either tongue in cheek or what I would consider country rock, americana,
or just plain ballads.

The "straightest" I've ever heard them play a true country song was at the Dallas show when they covered Waylon Jennings "Bob Wills is still the King". All of them taking it serious, great slide work.. great cover.

I remember reading somewhere that Keith always hated how Mick made a joke of country music a lot of the time. Their cover of "Bob Wills is Still the King" is absolute PERFECTION. Beautifully played.

Yes, for some reason Mick seems to place his tongue in cheek when singing country. I wonder why this is, he doesn't do that when singing blues. But when he doesn't, he sounds awesome. Evening Gown is the perfect example of this. Also the early take of Faraway Eyes beats the released version:

I have thought Always suffering, and Downtown Suzie were good country songs.

For Stones Country don't forget Keith's tracks with George Jones "Say it's not you" and "Burn your Playhouse Down"

Also the bootleg/original version "No Spare Parts" but if you cant find that the the re-issued version on Some Girls deluxe.

If you have access to the BBC, here's a show on BBC Radio Scotland tonight.
Ricky Ross is the singer in Deacon Blue and sometime broadcaster.

If you don't like the way I am living you can leave this Long haired " Country" boy alone (CD ) P.S. I meant to write Stoned and Instead I wrote STONES
