OT; AC/DC whereabouts

Anyone know what these guys are up to, making a final cd?

Last I read was that one of them was recovering from an illness (can't recall if surgery was also part of the story) but is working towards a full recovery. They wouldn't say which member it was that was sick.

Their wikipedia page says that there is a very vague plan to record a new album and tour, at some unspecified point in the future.

I saw them on the Black Ice tour, which was excellent. Was that the last tour?

Saw Brian on That Metal Show the other day, but the show could be old.

He just built a huge estate there a few years back...but he has homes in several other cities. (His wife is Dutch.)

Eh, I thought STIFF UPPER LIP was their best LP since HIGHWAY TO HELL.

BLACK ICE was never said to be their last LP but they have hinted that it was seeming like their last tour. However, the talk of another studio record has been hinted at being their last LP and tour.

Essentially, I'm pretty sure this is the story with AC/DC at this point:

I thought I read a story that they would like to not take as much time as they did last time between albums and tours, despite them getting up their in age. Stiff Upper Lip came out in early 2000. They toured for it until mid 2001. Black Ice came out in late 2008 and they toured until mid 2010 for it. So I guess they would not like to take 7 years between activity, and its only been 2 years at this point, so I would expect around another two. I also remember the article that someone was sick and they wouldn't say who but that they should be fine now.

My thoughts on AC/DC: They haven't had an album I liked in decades. Love the band, but I never really expect much from them. Since Back In Black, their albums have usually consisted of two or three songs that I enjoy. The rest, IMO, are just crap, which doesn't bother me that much, and there have also been full albums of their I think there isn't one good song. Their newest album I thought wasn't that good, I liked 5 songs and none were amazing, but I would say their were a few that were their best since Thunderstruck.

Their tours, on the other hand, are usually fantastic. These guys really don't slow down with age and their setlists and stage show is usually excellent. I had never seen them live until the Black Ice tour and thought it was magnificent and exactly the type of show I wanted to see from them. I wished they were dig deeper with their sets as opposed to them essentially being all hits mixed with 5 from the new album, but I'll take what I can get. They still do incredibly well for their age and genre of music.

The Razors Edge (shouldn't it be 'Razor's'?) wasn't very good.

whatever the title of the album was it had 6 very good songs:
thunderstruck
money talks
are you ready
title track
fire your guns
got you by the balls

my favourite band since I was 10 years old- 30 years ago.

Some random thoughts:

the Bon Scott stuff rules
Black Ice was a pretty good return
Stiff upper lip was a plodding, depressing record, as was For those...
Flick of the switch is a forgotten gem in the catalogue.
Powerage is their finest moment.
They are hugely frustrating with the set list when they tour.
you will never see a better band live.

You almost mirror my own thoughts and age EXACTLY in all of the above apart from the bit about Stiff Upper Lip. I quite like it, i'd give it a 6/12

That's an understatement. Along with Blow Up Your Video it's the worst album they ever made

are you serious? it was AC/DC's big comeback album. without that album brian once said AC/DC might have ended in the 90's

Agreed! Especially UK version which IMO has better versions and song list than US/AUS version. Fantastic album.

Comeback album doesn't automatically mean it's great (see Steel Wheels). It's not. It's average. So they had their first hit single(s) since FTATR. They went another, what, five years until their next record, the rather dull Ballbreaker.

they released a live album in between the 2 albums and took a break from doing anything as the band was constantlty touring and recording since 1975. anyways the razor's edge is the most critically acclaimed johnson era AC/DC album after back in black, stiff upper lip and black ice while voodoo lounge is the highest rated stones album since 1982 and a bigger bang also got better ratings than steel wheels by critics
