Best recording (as in how the sound quality is captured on tape, and then mixed) would be HTW, Tumbling Dice or Gimmie Shelter for me.

The best piece of music... Hm, perhaps a draw between GS and Beast Of Burden...

Gimme Shelter.

One of the most epic rock recordings of all time.

Little Queenie is a great groove and all that but there really is no contest.

Good choice, but the version on the BS-single and on Rarities had a superior mix, though.

I make it a policy not to make decisions about things I don't have to. It cuts down on all the mish mash floating around in my brain, it saves time, and it gives me a good excuse for being lazy.

any policy that enables and/or excuses laziness is good policy.

It's impossible for me to choose one recording, so I'll take the easy way out.
These albums:

- EOMS
- SF
- LIB
- GYYYO

But that's just the tip of the iceberg.........smoking smiley

No Mention of Brown Sugar or HTW? Two of the greatest singles by any group.

You are an agitator. Mr. BV has expressed disappointment in your continued insolence.

You will be dealt with in due course...or something.

I mentioned HTW. The recording quality of BS is perhaps not the greatest. The song, however, is for sure.

I was figuring sonically/production, not songwriting wise. How they utilised the studio to make something.

I was going to say "Rocks off" until I saw the last post by WLTPTB. Hmmm - "Ventilator Blues into "Just wanna see his Face" delivers in that aspect. It really feels like a clammy hot room.
I like the "Black & Blue" and "Some Girls" album for sound.
Also like "Time is on my Side" very much

How many of these threads do we need? Who can sit here and really say for sure what the greatest recording the Stones ever made was? It's all subjective to what your personal taste is. Is there one single song that stands out? To me no. As far as an album my personal favorite is Exile but Stonestod might like Dirty Work. i mean who knows really?
