Favourite First Song memories...

I'm not really going OT here...
What was your FIRST FAV SONG? You know the one...you're sitting by your transitor, or waiting for it on the car radio - begging your parents, or your girl or boyfriend to stop talking 'cause you wanted to listen.
This includes Stones and non-Stones
For me - it was Downtown by Petula Clark, and then Up, Up and Away - 5th Dimension...

First Stones song - Ruby Tuesday...

And your choices are?

She's So Cold, between the weaving guitars and "LIKE AN ICE CREAM CONE IN THE ARCTIC ZONE, SHE WAS A BEAUTY...A SWEET SWEET BOOJIE BUT SO SO COLD (that's at least the way I heard it)...and then the video...still love the video as well.

And yeah, first listen was in 1980 on a clock radio on an am station...LG73.

Emotional Rescue had already come out...it did well...it was ok, but didn't love it (came to appreciate it though shortly thereafter).

For me, that's where it all started.

This haunting song by Rolf Harris. Alice Cooper did a great cover in 71.

Oh man, I was just talking about this the other day - how young you are when you have your first conscious memory.
I was born in 1965, moved into a new house in 69 - and somehow I have this clear memory of lying on the bed in my older cousin's room and in our old house, listening to Downtown - while looking at the back of the Petula Clark album cover.......I must have been like really, really young. But this song is like a snapshot of that moment.
Also, Take a Letter Maria on the radio.

Sympathy for the devil - played on the Radio - must have been 93.3 WMMR Philadelphia - early to mid 70's - in my parents basement playing pool with my brother. This song comes on that I never heard before - I must have only been 11 or 12 at the time. I thought to myself "My parents would never approve - singing about the Devil...". Didn't even know it was the stones at the time. Once I found out it was the stones, I asked my mom if I could buy a Rolling Stones '45. She let my purchase It's Only Rock and Roll. Of course my sister had to have her own '45 - she bought Burning Love by Elvis. Anyhow, that lead to Emotional Rescue, Tattoo You, North American Tour '81 in Philly - and the rest is history.

Wow...love the track but there has to be an interesting story behind that. That's such an odd number to have heard first, and to have instantly loved...what's wit dat Dandelion?

I remember being all of five years old and fascinated by my older sister's transistor AM radio. I clearly remember hearing Satisfaction when it became a hit. Wouldn't know much about the Stones for a few more years but I knew I was hearing something that just made me feel really good. The Stones had set the hook on a life-long fan!

Canada had the best children's shows in the 70's!
The proof is right here: The Hilarious House of Frightenstien!!

This was my first memory of ever hearing a Stones song, which could be why it's my favourite song of all time...
