I as many love keith's complemantary vocals through the stones catalog, and wouldn't mind trying to list some of our favs. Please forgive if this has been done but indulge me if you dont mind. For me, Sweet virgina, Torn and Frayed, and espically Casino boogie does it for me. There are many more id like to list and I know im only going with Exile tracks but its what I feel. Input from IORR is much respected on my part. Thanks.

Memory Motel
I love Keith's hi vocals in 70's but this song has one of my favorite passages in all of Stones music: it is the two lines "..and she began to play, she sang a song to me..". Keith goes high in 'she began to play' but then drops down to this beautiful harmony w/the line 'she sang a song to me'. Oh man I love that part.

Hard to choose but I'd agree that he was really doing great with the backings on Exile. Casino Boogie is a definite fave, among many others on Exile.

If you read the liner notes, that's Mick doing his own harmonies on that one.

Damn. I hear it now.

I always thought it was Keith for some reason.

It's Keith-ish.

Memory Motel.
Also what Keith & Mick did on Exile.
I remember listening to the newly released ABB and noticing that Keith wasn't doing too many backing vovals on it. I wonder why? It's part of the rolling stones' sound afterall.
Rock and Roll,

The amount of Keith's backing vocals decreased quite a bit as the Stones (probably at Jagger's demand) started using professional back up singers both for the studio and the stage. I also wonder if Mick doesn't want Keith to sing too many back ups as his voice has changed and gotten deeper with age. Still, when keith does sing in the range he's currently comfortable with, I feel he blends in well and still adds a more "Stonsey" sound. I wish he would sing on a lot more songs than he does lately. And while we're at it....What about Ron Wood? I used to like it when he and Keith would share a microphone and do vocals behind Mick. Since Steel Wheels it appears as if he's been banned from approaching a microphone at all, with occassional exceptions like Star Star from Four Flicks. Even there he seems to be miming more than actually singing. Was he banned from singing? If so, it was probably another Jagger move towards the more pro sound.

No way, I am certain that Keith sings the backing vocals in Brown Sugar (but I do know that many of the later backing vocals that sound like Keith are actually Mick - Chris Kimsey said in an interview that Mick does a better "Keith vocal" than Keith!

I agree with others there is no doubt that this is Keith. The list just goes on and on with Keith harmonies that help make the song but if I'm forced to pick one all time great it has to be HONKY TONK WOMEN on the chorus---just can't be topped! I've always thought Keith's harmonizing vocals owed more to the style of Don Rich with Buck Owens than anything else!

all are great when his voice was high. His voice (imo) is shot and has been for many years. I real shame as he had a unique voice and added so much to the songs.

My new fav for Keef backing vox: SO YOUNG! yeah!
