Stones Record Store Day 45's
Date: December 9, 2011 02:38

Can anyone here explain the numbering system on these singles? It was claimed to be limited to 5000 copies but there are numbers far exceeding 5000. One guy on eBay has one numbered in the 9100's. Also, someone posted what #0001 of Brown Sugar went for on eBay. Anyone seen if #0001 of Spare Parts showed up?

Irvine, CA

The singles sold in the US were made in Europe.
The production must've been 10,000 split between US and Europe/Rest of the world

That's the extremely rare Mick vocal on BTMMR.
Only available on this release and of course the Arctic WalMart edition.

wow!

who oversees this stuff? Surprised it didn't say "Written by Lennon & McCartney".

This...& the (reported) cheapness of the reissued vinyl albums...makes one wonder.
(not to mention errors on previous re-issues)

I guess we should consider it a minor miracle when the music actually makes it onto the CD (or vinyl in this case).

IORR............but I like it!

These releases are very limited to the number of people that buy them (ok, I know I've used that one in at least one other thread).

But seriously, they seem to be able to say anything they want.

UMe doesn't sound terribly organized...I wonder if they are annoyed that RS aren't moving the units as much as they had hoped (exile rerelease being the exception).

I'll bet they are hoping to cash in on the 50th anniversary.

The ones numbered over 10000 are quite rare.

Why is that ?

Were they a secondary press because of demand ?

The vinyl vintage people were great to deal with incidentally, they had no problem giving me two singles for only an extra dollar for shipping (I like decreasing that per unit shipping cost!).

I would have bought more but there doesn't seem to be an end to the number of pressings they are 'limiting' themselves to.

Just received an email from them yesterday saying it is enroute.

Thanks again for the tip!

They're HERE!

I bought two from Vintage Vinyl...thanks again for the suggestion Boston!

Numbered 08711 and 10582...now, it may just be me, but when I see the 08711 beginning with a zero...it SEEMS more than likely they intended on going over 10000, so the whole 'limited to 5000' thing was obviously ridiculous.

I'd say maybe someone just got it wrong, but I recall for Plundered my Soul, they had said limited to 5000 world wide also, and then I remember seeing them on EBAY numbered over 10000 and not only that, there was a series of pressings apparently Europe-only, which didn't even have serial numbers.

I have several, all under 1000, but in this case, the numbers were only 4 digits, not 5, ie No. 0956.

I like the quality of the 45 though. It's a nice thick cover, with a bit of weight to it. Don't know how the actual vinyl is, as mine will forever remain shrink-wrapped.

The only number one needs to worry about where these "collectibles" are concerned is the price number. My local indie has three of them yet for which he's asking $10 each. I am the most ardent Stones collector in my neck-of-the-woods (ask around) yet my dealer STILL has three of these.

The funny thing is, me too, and I know Boston2006 said the same thing previously. They could have it packed with old unsold Bay City Rollers 45s and we'd never know.
