Voodoo Lounge quite awhile before I even had a cd player, just so I would have the extra song that wasn't on the album or cassette.

First CD bought in mid 80s was .....Rolling Stones - REWIND
Got my first CD Player a couple months later (Onkyo).
I bought several disks before having a player.
I had such a large record collection that I didn't think I'd be able to replace
all of them with CDs...so in the beginning I thought I would only buy
greatest hits or classic albums on CD. Of course when they became more
affordable I replaced every album i had and bought hundreds more.

IORR............but I like it!

I got a whole bunch of CDs around Christmas 1988, including The Clash's first album (US version), Dark Side of the Moon, Pleased to Meet Me (Replacements), Exile, and a Dire Straits anthology. My first CD that I had not previously purchased in another format was New York by Lou Reed. Steel Wheels was the first Stones album that I had not bought on vinyl.

No idea, but the first LP I owned was The Beatles' "Something New." The first cassette I made was a TDK 90 minute job with Some Girls on Side one and Emotional Rescue on Side two, recorded from my older brother's albums. At that point, I numbered my cassettes. It was number 001.

Boy those jewel cases were so much heavier too.

Nice bro! Yeah the jewel case was forced on us and sucked from the beginning. What a scam. I LOVE that Police record, my favorite of them all. Nice! peace.

I bought Micks Throwaway CD single in 1987, then Dirty Work in a sale and U2 Angel Of Harlem CD single (with KR). Didn't get a CD player till 1989. On the way to the shop bought Some Girls because it was always the first LP/casette/CD I played and play on new equipment.

Spent £100 on CDs the day I got my first player. Some cheapos, but mainly albums that I couldn't live without at the time (as I shelved my vinyl the same day). Purchases included Exile. Also got Hound Dog Taylor's first album, John Prine's first and Blood On The Tracks. Think BB King's Live At The Regal was another.

I held out as long as I could but by about late '91 it was getting harder to find new vinyl releases so I finally broke down and bought a CD player. The first CD I bought was 'Steel Wheels'. (Even though I already had it on vinyl.)
