The guy performing that is Jim Brown from Belfast, who uses the stage name 'The King'.
He released two albums in the late 90s - 'Gravelands' and 'Return to Splendour' - which are Elvis cover albums with a unique twist. Theyre comprised of songs that Elvis didnt cover, but which are covers of songs by artists who have died (or bands who have dead members) - hence the title. I cant stand Elvis impersonators normally, but I like these albums - because hes NOT covering Elvis songs, so there's no Presley version to compare it to. I suppose you can just imagine Elvis covering Whole Lotta Rosie, Whiskey in the Jar and LA Woman!
He did pretty well in Germany and eastern Europe for a while, and would have done pretty well financially had he not been ripped off. I know him personally, and he's a very nice guy.
This was his unique 'take' on Nirvana's Come as You Are - complete with cool promo video.
He told me that the reason why the girls in the car looked repulsed was because he really DID break wind.....
I always find it funny hearing the 'Ah dont have a gu-u-hun' line sung in an Elvis voice.
This is great! I just downloaded Graveland and must say that it is brilliant! A very intresting way of doing a "impossible" cover album... By the way JB must be the perfect Elvis impersonator!
he's actually very good at doing Elvis' songs too, it has to be said (he's sang live with people who have worked with Presley, such as The Jordanaires etc) and really knows his Elvis history - but the 'covers' concept is a brilliant idea.
