OT - 2011 MLB Baseball - Playoffs - World Series
Posted by: The Sicilian ()
Date: September 29, 2011 02:24

Well the fun starts tonight for the final slots.

Playing for the wild card in the American League:

Yankees vs Tampa Bay

Boston vs Baltimore

Playing for the wild card in the National League:

Philadelphia vs Atlanta

St. Louis vs Houston

A one game playoff looms if both WC teams finish with the same record in both leagues.

NY Yankees are my pick all the way. Too bad San Francisco choked and couldn't be in it. Enough of those hairy freaks anyways. It will be an interesting night.

I'm rooting for a Boston loss and total Atlanta meltdown.

Man it is tough that Atlanta had to play the best team in the league, while STL got Houston.... but that is the way the ball crumbles....

Atlanta had it.. had the lead... and anck!! they gave up the sac fly to allow Philly to tie...

games being shown on MLB TV

Red birds go to the playoffs after being 10 games out of it in August

==============================

2 games still going... Boston and Tampa still fighting for playoff spot.

================================

7-7 tied game in Tampa Vs NY 12th inning
3-2 Boston leads in the 9th inning

If Boston wins Tampa wins, 1 game playoff game tommorow

One wins, other loses... winner to playoffs

I love de'beseball'

===================================

Holy cow Pappelbon blows tha save and Baltimore scores

As Boston fans begin the unnatural act of rooting for the THE NEW YORK YANKEES

WHOA!!!(AGAIN)
TAMPA BAY'S EVAN LONGORIA WINS THE GAME WITH A HOME RUN IN THE 12th

Tampa wins 8-7 over New York and Tampa goes to the playoffs after being down 7-0 in the 7th inning and they come all the way back to defeat the Yanks. WOW!!!

No playoff game needed on Thursday....

A historic night...and a lot of fun to watch, I love de beseball!!!!

A great day of baseball. Hopefully this will shut people like Bob Costas up who think the wild card shouldn't happen.

A great day of baseball.....
thumbs up
For this one night to be able to happen makes the wild card more than worth it, for another 20 years, I have never seen anything like it... and I must say MLB network combined with ESPN actually did a great job of carrying all the action.

You never know what's gonna happen in baseball. After Baltimore won, I went to take a leak and came back to see all this madness in Tampa (not even 3 minutes). Plus Atlanta gagged.

No kidding... that was fast. I had barely typed "Boston fans begin rooting for"... and BAM!! Longoria went long. I had a weird feeling this would be a special night for Baseball and that is why I kind of went haywire typing about it... It was fun to watch.

Im 58 years old, big baseball fan. THAT was the most phenominal night in baseball I've ever seen. I'm a Cincinnati fan, but always good to see Boston (or the Yankees) gag one up.

Long live the Big Red Machine!

Wednesday night was the best night of baseball viewing I have ever seen!
My son and I had a blast watching all of those wild games finish up the season.

Now, on to the playoffs...

Go Tigers! Verlander vs. C.C. tonight at Yankee Stadium. It just doesn't get any better, folks.

Philly didn't buy anything.......Howard=homegrown, Utley=homegrown, Rolling=homegrown, Polanco orinally traded for Scott Rolen, reacquired via free agency, Ibanez=via free agency, Victorino=rule 5, Hunter Pence=trade, Ruiz=homegrown

Cliff Lee=trade then returned via free agency, Roy Halladay=trade, Roy Oswalt=trade, Cole Hamels=homegrown, Ryan Madson=homegrown, Bastardo=homegrown, Stutes=homegrown, Worley=homegrown

Everyone either homegrown or acquired via trade for homegrown prospects except Ibanez, and victorino

Give me a break with the buying crap. You want to see buying take a look at the yankees roster sometime over the years.......now that's buying.

As long as the Yankees go down to Detroit in the first round, I will be in HEAVEN!! If they go down in the second round, I'm still fine! Any team who beats the YANKEES I WILL LOVE!

we put butts in the seats sold out 3 straight years, they spend what they make, but they only bought 2 marginal pieces (polanco, and ibanez) Imagine how good tampa would be; if anybody in tampa gave a crap. That place is usually only 1/3 full. I was just stating they are mostly homegrown, or acquired via homegrown prospects. I agree the payroll is insane, but we the fans go and therefore they spend what we give them. If we stop going they stop spending. If people actually cared in tampa, or atlanta, maybe they would spend more.

Not sure why you want to see the Yankees go down mickschix, but I do too.
I was a fan growing up in NYC, but through the years the players became prima donnas, the payroll thing was over the top....just buy yourself the championship mentality,
the costs, and the players loyalty is not to NY and the fans, but to their paychecks.

Here we go>>> Today's games
30 minutes from now (5:00 EST) Tampa at Texas on TBS
2nd game also on TBS Tigers at Yankees (8:30 EST)

There is no point arguing on IORR. If one has an opinion, fine, post it, but arguing does nothing here. I have never seen anyone on IORR change the mind of another on IORR by debating, arguing or discussing..... which is fine too.

When I have an an opinion I might post it, it does not mean I am looking some debate practice, sometimes I will get into the "discussion" but not always... so please, no one be offended if dont reply... I just wanna watch some basesball and maybe share some thoughts about it in the IORR salloon..

Man, how cool, but heart breaking... in Texas, Cooper Stone, the boy who's fire fighter Dad died falling out of the stands at Texas stadium on July 7th this year, was with Nolan Ryan, and the boy Cooper threw out the first pitch. Nothing can make up for a boy losing his father, but that is a very very nice gesture from the Rangers.
