Keith: Is that a thimble in your pocket or do you really like me?

Mick: Anita liked it.

Exactly. It was staged. All for the cameras.

Real heartwarming.

Only they know for sure, but compared to pics of them hugging before (67's-70's), it doesn't look too sincere or warm.

OT: ever notice the look of love between Charlie 'n Mick? For example, the '72 Montreux rehearsals - there's several minutes where Mick is standing in front of the drum kit & they're just looking into each other's eyes and smiling. It's the love that dare not speak its name...

You are a cynical lot...would either Mick or Keith do it just for Scorsese? Jagger initiates it, which makes me think it might have a bit of genuine feeling in it...maybe I'm wrong and had one two many beers?

I thought Scorcese said he requested they sing from the same microphone at some point like they used to. I believe they picked the song. Whether the smile is real or Hollywood is open to conjecture.

I'd lean towards thinking it was primarily for show, but who knows? One thing is certain is that the idea of filming the Beacon shows was to capture as many echoes to the past as possible in the performances themselves. That alone is fairly disingenous as were the models in the front rows. From that perspective, I treat anything in the film, no matter how entertaining, to be of dubious authenticity.

You know, it is possible for two people who don't get along so well anymore to have certain moments that are genuine.

Don't get me wrong, I know certain elements of Shine A light were shamelessly set up i.e. the models in the front seats etc, but, I still maintain neither Keith or Mick would have done this against their will - why should they? Jagger has never done anything against his will, nor Keith to my knowledge. Aside from that, the thing that makes me think this is genuine is that it was in the song Faraway Eyes! Look at it from Scorcese's point of view, if you were going to pick a moment for something like this it would be in an iconic song, or maybe at the end, you wouldn't write it into the script for the end of Faraway Eyes. It's a largely tongue in cheek song (albeit brilliant) and not one associated necessarily with Keith and Mick, or The Stones as whole for that matter.

For me, it's genuine.

Oh, to answer your question, NO! The next show of public affection will be the press conference next spring to announce their plans for the summer of 2012! It will be the "Make Up" of the Century!

It must have been weird for Mick and Keith to follow Scorcese's suggestions because in a way, it was them realizing just how far they've grown apart. Here's Scorcese saying "Share the mic at some point...do some of the things you guys used to do." in a way he's almost saying..."be the band that you used to be...a band that actually loved each other. not the cranky men you are today."

The mic scene was a bit forced...the mini hug and smile at the end was probably Mick's natural reaction to the moment. Maybe for the moment, he did remember what it was like to be friendly with Keith. Maybe it took him back to those days. That smile at the end felt more real than them sharing the mic.

The true affection was shown by Keith to Mick on the last tour in Las Vegas after Mick left his dying father.

Can keith still play and sing? I've noticed this in more recent footage, he stops playing the guitar when he sings. Is it just me failing to notice when he does?

I think this may possibly be the last - I took this photo 15 minutes before the end of the last Stones concert at O2 August 27 2007.

Thanks whitem8. At least there still appears to have been love between them then.

I have a whole sequence leading up to that of Jagger watching Keef as he plays a solo and then going over to hug him. I'll try and upload the others tonight.

Mick: I'm quitting the Stones after this and forming a Super Group!

Keith: Go right on ahead pal. I'm gonna let the world know about somethin' that ain't so super about you with my stab you in the back book!

Thanks to you, RM, and to you too, SilverDagger for that shot.
