It's interesting to note that by the time they got to Ft. Worth, Mick had ditched the hideous red cap and red leather jacket. They appear much more "conventional" - at least in these clips.

Nope...

Looks GREAT!!!! But why are they saying 10000 + fans??? I know the place well,I was there and the seating capacity is about 2800!!!!

See where the balcony is at the beginning and the lights are above it? I'm on the front row just left of dead center......(can't see me but that where my seat was)

Watched the clip 3 times so far today. It seems unreal, shocking to see the 1978 Stones in such vivid quality. Really didn't think it was possible. Sure hope there are more treasures like this in the archive, and they are released.

X-mas is on Nov. 22 this year!

OT but it's simply amazing to see what they've done with 16mm footage which is a budget movie format. Kudos to anyone who did the transfer!

L&G mostly in Houston, Fort Worth in 78...
The Stones kick ass in Texas.
In May, I attended my niece's high school graduation at Hofheinz Pavilion, and I kept thinking how small it was, and how close you could have been to the Stones in 72.

also noticed -the 30 minutes that are available now are only two camera's or so, while this trailer is really a pro-shot movie with plenty of camera's more. Can't wait!

This actually looks much better to me than Ladies & Gentleman. While that did have a killer performance, the camera work here looks far superior. Plus you can actually see the audience!

Paris 76 should be doable, but LA 75 is trickier. We've pretty much agreed that LA 75 is from the internal TV feed at the LA Forum and who would own that and how you would get the best 'master' of that appears unknown. I've never heard of the Stones themselves filming any of the dates on the '75 tour (which makes it all the more tantalizing).

So.......that leaves a 73 tour concert that was filmed? Correct? Atlantic City '89. A CD set of Leeds (1970?), a CD set of Brussels 73. Is that about it? It looks like the Sullivan shows will have to suffice for the Jones era, unless someone knows of a concert filmed in 66 or early 67. Oh yeah, and an official BBC set.

But there is something special about this Live in Texas release. I think it will help resurrect their 1978 reputation a bit after a real mixed bag of a tour, and their perplexing appearance on Saturday Night Live. Can't wait.

Sure not. There was no internal TV feed at the time, and the film was shot for the Stones own use and possible release.

Concerning 1973: there have always been rumours that one of the London shows was filmed by the BBC, but to date nothing has surfaces, nor has anyone claimed to have seen bits of it.

Thanks Doc!

I'm very excited now! My 1978 experience was in an 80000 seat stadium, 75 metres from the stage, with pretty muddy sound. Few in the crowd had heard the record and were turned off. But I loved the energy the band had. They were obviously influenced by or responding to the punk movement - and doing it well. It was a great time.
