Would those be original releases or rereleases Stefaan, and how do you tell?

The Chilean one is a great cover...obviously the 'inside' of the gatefold. I wonder why that was never an option for the actually worldwide release?

The beggars is the original. I know there are rereleases from this one and it is easy to see on the sleeve and the label. the original has a flip over sleeve in very thin paper.
There is also the same with a green label, i don't know the differents, maybe stereo.

The Taiwanese ones are cool but they are bootlegs. Until the 1980s they ignored copyright rules in Taiwan.

I think that's why I've mainly concentrated on the US/UK releases...because it was relatively easy to understand what was original and what wasn't.

A bit more difficult with some of the international ones, in particular South America and Pacific Rim with the exception of Japan, and Australia.

It's amazing to see the variation....does anyone know how much bigger the Beatles market is nowadays for this type of stuff? Maybe I'm wrong to presume it's bigger?

I really like that copy you have of Beggar's Stefaan...I haven't seen it before, that would be one I'd like to get.

I've got two problems with that...
1. I'm sure I don't have anything that you don't already have.
2. I've never let go of anything I've acquired...it would be like surgery!

What are the 'gaping' gaps in your collection Stefaan....what you are REALLY looking for?

Thanks Stefaan...I'm on vacation right now and not anywhere near my collection (although quite near the beach...i can see it from my balcony in waikiki as I'm cheapishly surfing for free wifi!).

I'll 'catchup' with you when I'm back after the 18th!

None!

I kept saving loose US coin mixed in with my Canadian coins. They weren't too pleased with me 'importing' it through customs though, metal detectors and all. I guess I should have rolled it.

I thought it looked great in the side leg pockets of my khaki's though!

One of my beloved rarities is the UK debut album with the 2.52 demo version of tell me 1A/1A.
There is a big silver line crossed the word Decca done by hand on the Tell me side. It's maybe done for not try to sell...I don't know.

Thanks Stefaan...for me personally, that is also a bit of a 'holy grail' as I don't have it and I definitely would like to get it. Kind of like the first single 'Come On' with the MT tax code, this is first ever Stones album pressing, so definitely interesting.

Can you impart any knowledge on the Mona, vs. I Need You Baby? Was Mona the first error, and does it say Mona on your copy on the sleeve?

I find this confusing because if the original error was the short version of Tell Me, why does this have the correct title of I Need You on the label? Why, if they had the correct title, did they switch to Mona, only to switch back again later?

Thanks in advance for your help, if you can shed any light.

The sleeve says 'i need you baby'. I dont know the answer on your question. I know it's very confused. Maybe you find the answer on Jan's decca page.

This link will take you directly to LK4605

Go down about 2/3 and you will find "Dating of Non Boxed label versions"
There I have listed all changes on label versions and in what order the changes took place.
A bit above this you will find pictures of all labels as well as cover versions. A number of combinations of LP's and covers are existing but I have not documented them

FINALLY, I have something nicer than you have! My copy doesn't have the licorce gum or whatever it is you have on your label!

I love this piece because it seems to be the undisputed FIRST version of any legitimate Stones release from anywhere. I have two copies, in VG+ and VG condition.

Surprisingly, they don't seem to sell for all that much...Jan, do you happen to know why that is? There can't be that many copies around any more. Is it just a 'best kept secret' for the moment?
