Yeah, Hetfield must have thought - Let's do it without humor...this 'System of a dawn' video is brilliant...

i never liked SYSTEM OF A DOWN or their genre but its pretty clear by hearing that song i posted metallica was just piggybacking on what was popular at the time. hetfield was clearly copying the vocal stylings of bands like that but no longer had the voice to pull off a lot of the drastic changes in style which is why his voice cracks a few times on the album.

Is there some reason why Lou Reed has to talk a song instead of singing it these days?

They're called cigarettes -- see Keith Richards.

Interesting. It could be better but it could also be much worse, depending on what side of the music isle you sit. It sounds a little too Metal for me but it's just a 30 second snippet and I assume there's a lot more diversity on the entire work.

The production ( "sound" ) sounds pretty good.

Thematically it sounds like a "Berlin"-take 2".

We'll see.

Cranky 70-year-old jewish man rants while heavy metal music plays in the background. Awesome!

it sounds like everyone involved in the performance/recording/production of that song was drunk. the kick drum sounds so awful. the drumming by lars, i presume, is so terrible that it sounds like a keyboard being performed in real time. the song sounds like a demo. a lousy demo.

It sounds laid back. An ok tune, but totally unnecesarry, imo.

Thanks.

Great opening line to the first song - 'I would cut my legs and tits off/when I think of Boris Karloff....' LOL

Christ, there's a song on this album that lasts almost 20 minutes....makes 'Sister Ray' and 'Like a Possum' almost Ramones-like in their brevity.

Art Rock. Berlin meets Street Hassle meets Ecstasy meets Robert Wilson. Some of it I like, especially some of Lou's guitar. Some is unlistenable, like when James Hetfield sings. It's an honest effort and doing something out of the box. Nothing commercial, just an art project.

First listen I like it. At times it reminds Iggy Pop's Beat em Up album.

The first time I heard The View it reminded me St. Anger so I didn't have great expectations. But there are some good tracks on Lulu: Iced Honey, Branderburg Gate, Cheat On Me. And Junior Dad!!!!! Man, this may be the best thing that both Metallica and Lou Reed recorded ever eye popping smiley

So far what I hear I'm thinking Lou could have programmed any kind of generic Heavy Metal Video Game soundtrack, and spoken his piece over it. Where is this Metallica?

Is the 2-disk version being released in the US? I see it listed on amazon.co.uk but not on amazon.com

Likewise, the SOME GIRLS LIVE IN TEXAS is listed as a 2-disk set on the UK site but as a single disk for US.

For the Stones, we'll have a DVD version and a deluxe CD+DVD version
Thes combos will also be available in the US, don't worry
