If Brian had pulled through, he might have been a major musical force in the 70's and beyond. One of many musical geniuses that passed on during that period, far too young and too soon.

God bless you Brian, the true leader and greatest of all The Rolling Stones. We Love You.

And his last pic with the band...

Yes, I had a few reflections on Mr Jones today - hope wherever he is he is living a rilly groovy life. At the same time, I aint fooling myself into remembering him as a particuarly nice guy...he wasn't, but his musical legacy no doubt changed the direction rock n roll. I stood watching the Master Musicians of Joujouka at Glastonbury last week and watched all these 16 -25 year olds moaning on about why were nsuch a weird act playing at Glastonbury, some who were stood next to me even read out the bumf from the programme about Brian Jones and then said - who the @#$%& is Brian Jones (the programme didnt really mention the Stones) that hit home. The fact that already we have two generations of music fans who have never heard of Brian Jones. I'm definatly getting old. Kinda sad really.

Without Brian, there wouldn't be us, people who at least once in their lifes were blown
away by the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world!
Thank you Brian, wherever you may be.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

Brian was in love with jazz, blues and world music. His score for A Degree of Murder and his recording of the Master Musicians of Joujouka shows that his goals with music went further than just being a Rolling Stone. If his body would have allowed him to survive the 70's I think that we would have seen him do more scores and producing more world music as well as bands he liked. He had the talent to do so.
Brian was a true musicians soul with an amazing understanding for how to get the sounds he wanted and what to do with them. He never set out to be the world's greatest guitarist or sitarist - it went deeper than that.

Thank you Brian for being one of my main musical inspirations for 14 years.
If there's a heaven I sure hope that you jam good with Jimi, Janis, Jim, John and all the others who left us way to early.

Thanks to Brian for starting the Stones.
Thanks to Brian for adding all those flavors that
turned Mick and Keith songs into something special.

I'm sorry that the drugs became such a problem for
him but that happened to a lot of folks back then.

Generally speaking, most musicians are not known as being
saints. The get away with a lot of crap. If you want a
saint look elsewhere.

I'm really sorry you were killed. Just at the time you
seemed to be getting your act together.

I'm glad I got to see you guys live in person in Detroit in '66.
Still remains a highpoint in my life.

Rock on int next world!

..and both in water.

Always found it a bit odd as to why Brian's death is marked as July 3rd. Didnt the incident actually occur late in the evening of the 2nd?

RIP Brian.

well, it's always sad to think of this young man that founded the Rolling Stones and has gone much too early
But he's always here somewhere behind a shadow and playing harp with a smile on his face telling us "dont't you forget me"

Brian was so attractive in the 60's photos, concerts , interviews...

Has someone (french fan?) the front-cover of french daily paper "Le Parisien" announcing his death (July 4th,1969)??
A good scan is welcomed!! (as well other world-wide front-cover!)

An extremely dual personalitied Pisces. I think that duality can be found on his recorder parts on Ruby Tuesday. The first stanza is a light hearted satyr leaping through the forest, the second part sad and wistful, with hints of darkness and his own destruction.

Ain't life unkind?

Rest In Peace, Brian.

For all his faults, he was a tremendous force of the 60's scene, both musically and culturally - and least we forget; he founded a group called The Rolling Stones.

It happened late on in 2nd July, but I think he was officially pronounced dead after midnight, hence it being 3rd July.

As great as the Stones were (and are) after Brain, a certain feel was lost with his death -- the influence he had with the different instruments. Just how much influence he had in the early years -- 1962 to 1966 -- is difficult to determine.

Brian was one of the first of his generation from England to love the blues and to play it right. His slide and harmonica playing were impressive and real. Just through listening to a couple of records of the american masters, he taught himself the music that was going to change society.Much respect Brian Jones.
Rock and Roll,

Just remembered this from an old thread:

Remember hearing an interview on Swedish radio from 1965 (a re-broadcast, sorry Skippy!) with him. At that time he was the leader of the band. He spoke a very fluent middleclass English and came across as very obliging and mature. Unlike Mick or Keith who never were at ease with interviews and seemed a bit full of themselves, at least in those times.
