OT: McCartney & McCartney II Re-issues, who's digging them?
Posted by: vudicus ()

I've just got the McCartney II re-issue and I've compiled the original 18 track version that Macca originally wanted to release.
Why? Coz I'm sick and I actually like this album a lot!

Anyone else got these new re-masters?
I'm pretty impressed with the sound quality I must say. No loudness issues or harshness that I can detect so far.

Loving Mccartney--one of my all-time favorite albums. Not so much Mac II -- cant put my finger on it, but was never a big fan of that one-- maybe too much synth...
But Mccartney I big thumbs up !

Yeah, Macca. Opening the vaults with a huge Archive Collection, finishing two albums at the moment and touring, touring, touring - also with clubs gigs. How could any fan ask for more.

Please Stones, just 10% of this activity would make us happy.

Will never happen with the Stones. They've lost interest.

I thought pretty much every surviving Rolling Stone (& ex Stone) are currently either recording (Mick, Keith) or performing live (Bill, Charlie, Ronnie)...

Comparing a solo artist with a group is ludicrous.

If you read my post correctly, is has to do with releasing stuff, playing small gigs.
maybe you should wear contact lenses

Charlie, Ronnie & Bill are playing small gigs, aren't they? And Mick & Keith are I believe currently recording & / or preparing to release things, including an extended Some Girls.

Maybe you should read other threads.

By the way,
now i know why your name is sleepycity..
My point is the Stones are no longer a band, and dont function as a band.
Its a corporota name. whereas mc cartney tours, releases stuff and plays small gigs, all for his fans.
The Stones (the BAND, and not individuals !!!) dont do this..
bye
jeroen

And my point is neither are The Beatles...

A fairer comparison would be Jagger versus McCartney.

...and there's no need to be rude young man.

i never like mccartney II but i am digging the first one. like i said in another thread this bonus EP thing is great that some bands are doing it but by far QUEEN is winning the battle of better bonus tracks against paul.

Got home today in the USA and opened them both. WOW! Very well done release. Beautiful packaging, and very high quality. The music is superb, and I am growing to better appreciated Macca II. Still prefer I though, and the sound is flawless. They did a great job. Just got Macca tickets today for Detroit! My third summer seeing him live, this time in my home town, and his first show in Detroit for 16 years! Summer is hear man!

This whole re-release is making me re-appreciate McCartney II. While I have always loved the original McCartney album, the 1980 "sequel" I always sort of shrugged off as a curiosity. But there's a lot of fun here - Temporary Secretary and Nobody Knows are pure silly nonsense but they move along nicely, Coming Up has a great groove, and Waterfalls and One of These Days are among his most lovely ballads.

I would urge any McCartney fans out there to get these. He really delivered with last year's Band On the Run re-issue and he delivers again here. Now bring on Ram already!!!

Add "Nobody Knows" to that list as a gem from McII...

Ok all this talk about Mccartney II makes me have to go back and re-experience it again. I always loved Mccartney I , but never could connect with "II" -- but since so many of you recommend it, I will go back today and re-listen.

I'm really glad he's re-releasing all this stuff.

He played the Palace in 2005, but it depends what you mean by "Detroit". If you mean Detroit proper, i.e., within the city limits, it's the first time since Wings played Olympia in 1976.

Yes, Detroit proper. I know he played the palace, but his last Detroit show was Wings Over America so i was wrong, more than sixteen years ago! Can't wait!

No apologies, Comerica Park here I come! Detroit Rock City.

(shameless plug for my blog...I am still too much of a die-hard Stones fan.)
