Mere curiosity or unheralded masterpiece?

Discuss.

Strangely boring and forgettable considering the musicians involved

Telling. A bit at least. Together with Downtown Suzie, Memo and what may or may not be on those tapes with Ry showcasing his style. You kinda get a glimpse of what really inspired Keith in 1969. Very good playing, boring results on that record.

Listening to it right now and certainly have spent more time listening to it than Mick et al spent making it....sic...(see Mick's original disclaimer in each copy)...........my late mother-in-law who was 86 and liked "young people like the Rolling Stones" (and saw them in 1990 when she was 69) loved it too...........

I'd heard about it for years but couldn't find a copy in a regular record shop - even 2nd hand - then...finally stumbled across one in a small record kiosk in Gloucester road tube station in 1980..........bought the CD version when that was released in the '90's (I think)

it was a sensational discovery for a Stones-fan like me when I bought it 1971...it wasn't common with LPs like that... must have been released thanks to their own record label...just like that...

One of the musicians involved was Nicky Hopkins, if you didn't know him is the guy who plays piano in Angie (do you think it was played by Mick Taylor?), She's a rainbow, all of Exile excepting two song, all Beggars banquet, and on the 1972 tour, considered their best one.

So, not boring at all, and a very intresting one in fact.

Was it never released on CD? How about a deluxe edition with bonus tracks and "making of documentary". I guess it would be the shortest making-of documentary in history.

please can we abbreviate this one's name to "Jedward" in future.

There were only 3 more tracks from this session and Downtown Suzie was on Metamorphosis

1. Downtown Suzie
2. Curtis meets Smokey
& 3. So Fine

Didn't realise the CDs were this expensive though........ [www.amazon.co.uk]

There's a few cheaper here on Ebay....... [shop.ebay.co.uk]

Some of the tracks make decent background groove.

Nicky was the most gifted musician the stones ever had the pleasure of playing with. That weird album may lack a lot of things, but the piano playing is ace! thumbs up

Your English isn`t very good, try reading the post a bit more slowly it only has 8 words in it.

For what it is - an "official" bootleg of a bunch of great musicians jammin in the studio - I always loved it!

A truly wild & loose Bill Wyman on Highland Fling!

On a side note, it shows how characterizing Keith's guitar if for the music of the Rolling Stones, and what a load of bullshit the story of Keith copying Ry Cooder is.

It's playful and a fun listen; it was neat that you could get this kind of recording from anyone. Sort of a hanging out with the Stones waiting for the guitarists to show up at the session recording, a glimpse of the process. I still have it on 8-track and vinyl.

I like Mick's insertion of a verse from Dylan's "Pledging My Time" into "It Hurts Me Too", which of course had also been covered by Dylan. Neat.
