I was suprised to see how many people listed Page/Plant.

I saw them in Phoenix in about '97 and they actually were almost better that when I saw Led Zeppelin in '73 in Chicago. I saw both Zep and Alice Cooper at the Chicago Stadium in '73 and Alice was a better show.

I never saw Led Zeppelin. Page and Plant WAS my Led Zeppelin show. That second tour they did, the stripped down ROCK tour, in 1998-99, the one without all the middle-eastern trappings, that really was the Led Zeppelin reunion tour. They didn't call it that, but that's what it was.

Saw Page/Plant on the same tour in 1998, and it WAS a great show...but oddly not one that I put on my top-few list. Not sure why, as it was objectively just a very solid show as I recall it now. And this tour was in a sense a Zep reunion tour considering the setlist and rockin' nature of the shows, but...the arena I saw them in was only about 2/3 full, which surprised me and made me think, "you know, if they would've just hit the road billed as LZ, this would be another Voodoo Lounge." I do remember giving both Page and Plant very sincere kudos after the show and being very satisfied with what I had witnessed.

I saw them in Detroit, where they played two shows at the 20,000 seat Palace at Auburn Hills. Hardly anyone who isn't named "Seger" ever does two nights there and fills the place, but I do remember Plant saying that there were still tickets left for the show the following day in Grand Rapids if anyone was interested in going. I really think that was the closest we will ever get to Zeppelin reunion tour. They were touring behind Walking Into Clarksdale, the first and only studio album of all new material Page and Plant have done together since In Through The Out Door, they performed as a four-piece rock band, without all the middle-eastern musicians they used in the 1994-95 tour, and they played a set list that, apart from a few of the songs off the new album, consisted almost entirely of material from the first four Zeppelin albums. It was almost like a recreation of a 1972 Zeppelin concert. Whenever I get asked what was THE best concert I ever saw, I usually say "The Who,'79", but Page and Plant '98 might actually have been even better.

Too many to mention but a few that stands out:

DAY ON THE GREEN OAKLAND OCT 5tH 1976 Grateful Dead opened in the morning followed by The Who in the afternoon...mellow from The Dead...Blasted by The Who.. two of my favorite bands together

LIVE AID PHILADELPHIA July 13, 1985 Seeing the combinations of bands (Beach Boys, CSN, Four Tops, Black Sabbath, The Pretenders, Madonna etc) and then wathching London Wembley on the screen was cool...then again I remember it being sooo hot that day

Rolling Stones at MSG New York Stevie Wonder opened the show...Mick Jagger's birthday and they brought out a big cake..Exile was their latest album and sounded great

Led Zeppelin at MSG New York Between the band's high volume and fireworks being thrown down from the upper tier I left the show with my head spinning

Wonder why hardly anyone put U2 on their list. I listed my top five and they weren't there but might put them at # 6 with their Elevation Tour in Salt Lake City. Their intro song was Elevation and that song is as good as it gets.

U2 would be in another thread "worst concerts you have ever seen" Ive seen them twice in 1985 they were OK, but the audience were the worst public school rugby morons I actually only went because REM and the Ramones were on the same bill. In 2005 I saw them again, one of the worst pieces of rock ensemble playing I have ever heard, bad bar band would be a compliment,

Never seen 'em. I'm going to my first U2 show June 26, 2011. Unless the ink has faded off the tickets by then. I bought them on Nov. 23, 2009.
