I have the original Black Box Mobile Fidelity LP's. Mint condition.

The value has risen better than my stock portfolio.
I am sure these new ones will be keepers

UK prices:
1664-1969 set £233.88, £17.99 per album
1971-2005 set £251.94, £19.38 per album

That's not too bad if you want the whole set of vinyl. If don't have any Stones vinyl (or like me you threw out your vinyl in an attempt to go completely digital) then they might be worth buying.

However, there have been reports of Exile vinyl not being very good...the sound being compressed too much, using digital masters etc.

If these boxed sets were produced in the same way as the Beatles one (which I understand is from analogue masters) then it might be worth it.

I have all my dad's old vinyls. They're still sounding great. Complete collection up to Undercover. I would be interested in buying Steel Wheels, Voodoo Lounge, BtB and ABB.
Hope to get them separately.

Wooow

At last ABKCO has aknowledged the existance of the UK first and second LP's
I am amazed

This may give a hope for the future, though a tiny one, that abkco would also issue the UK No1 and No2 on CD......

I would be interested in Satanic, Bleed and Beggars if available separately but they would have to be excellent 180g audiophile pressings and not like the recent Exile vinyl release which was a total travesty.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Furthermore, their self-titled album MUST include the longest version of Tell Me to be worth buying.

While I know what you're saying, MisterFrias, the division is based on copyright ownership. We can't realistically expect them to divide releases based on who the other guitar player was in the line-up at the time. I'm more amused that the first release spans five years and the second spans 34 years. One presumes there are plans for vinyl live albums at some point.

For the first time in history, the Rolling Stones, ABKCO and Universal Music have joined forces to offer two vinyl box set collections spanning more than 40 years of the Rolling Stones' career. This 1964-1969 set contains the following releases all pressed on 180-gram vinyl: The Rolling Stones (EP), The Rolling Stones (UK), Five By Five (EP), The Rolling Stones No. 2, Out Of Our Heads (UK), Aftermath (UK), Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass) (UK), Between The Buttons (UK), Their Satanic Majesties Request, Beggars Banquet, Through The Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2) UK), Let It Bleed and Metamorphosis. The first five titles in the set are presented in their original mono format, affording, for the first time in years, an opportunity for Stones fans to enjoy remastered versions of the tracks "I Can't Be Satisfied," "Time Is On My Side" (version two) and "Down The Road Apiece" as originally released. Through The Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2) is included with its original octagonal cover and artwork intact.

First five ?:
The Rolling Stones (EP)
The Rolling Stones (UK)
Five By Five (EP)
The Rolling Stones No. 2
Out Of Our Heads (UK)

The lack of official information is disappointing, but we're not the only ones left in the dark.

It's unbelievable!!!

Even if we are getting something of real value, the 2 first UK albums for example, which we have been pleasing ABKCO to re-release since 2002, people will find something else to complain about.

Why is it, that NOTHING can please anyone???

Come on man, it's fantastic sets and some of the best music ever. Don't buy it or shut up if you can't say anything positive about it anyway!

Let's see... If I were to buy these it would be for what? So I can buy them for the fourth or fifth time each?

If the Exile box was indicative then the mastering of these LPs will be identical to the UNI CD reissues. That means they'll not be as good as the originals and vastly inferior to the Original Masters versions.

There is no viable reason to purchase these collections UNLESS you don't already own them in any other form. Methinks record company brain-trusts are trying to cash in on the "well-heeled" 50+ crowd while they can.

The real value is 370 US dollars and it's a shame how the fans are treated by ABCKO and the Rolling Stones as well (nothing new, though). But still it seems there is always a dick to say stuff like "shut up if you can't say anything positive" - there IS nothing positive. Maybe it's time for Blueranger to face reality for once instead of seeing always the positive. In some things there is nothing positive if you really look at them.

I can understand the frustration. The box set looks real nice but I don't understand why ABKCO is working on something like this when they've released the vinyl albums numerous times over the past 25 years. They are sitting on a treasure trove of unreleased Stones stuff and are doing nothing with it. This is just rehashing. They haven't released Charlie Is My Darling or all the TV appearances on DVD yet. They haven't released the 25 songs the band recorded in the Sixties in true stereo of some of their biggest hits. They haven't released a book of who-played-what on every Stones track taken from the original recording logs - which they say they have.

I can understand where some of the posters are coming from because I'm one of the disappointed fans.

Welcome to IORR, aka The King's New Clothes show.

Here, we worship the band and everything they ever did. We welcome the umpteenth reissue of old studio material at rip off prices and we condemn anyone who dares to offer the slightest criticism.

As I said, the record companies will turn every plum into a prune, but don't you dare challenge them.

Dick!
