I don't know if it is worth anything special, talking about money, but it is worth a lot soundwise. If I were you I should keep it because even the remastered SACD UK version from 2002 does not sound as good as the first one on Decca/London from 1985 (I think??)

The details on the official pages are very confusing. How come two tracks on Aftermath are in mono? Four titles on Their satanic...and two on Beggars B are specially mentioned as stereo? They all were when the album came out (if you didn't chose the mono version of course) You can't always get what you want have the information "album version" Not very surprising since we all expect it to be the album version when we buy the album? There are more. One can wonder who is responsible for this information? However Have you seen your mother baby is also stated as stereo, but it is of course not...??????

Don't count on those informations on the official site. We have tried it before with the Singles box-sets where everything was Mono but some titles where announced as being Stereo.

As I remember it, Have You Seen Your Mother was announced as being in stereo on "Rolled Gold +", which it of course wasn´t/isn´t.
It does exist in stereo, though, so maybe one day...

Well it cost 100 quid for one Stones box last time out, albeit with an additional albums worth of material.

This time round £200 for over 10 albums in each

Fukc it I'm in, and I need those bad boys for my Vinyl LP collection

What else you gonna spend your hard earned money on?

Other more attractive and better priced box sets?

This is true. The Bowie Station to Station box set is far better value, certainly than the Exile reissue.

Never really liked Bowie though.

Thank god for capitalism!

The upcoming Dylan and Springsteen ones will keep me happy.

I settled for the 3-CD version of 'Station to Station'. My tender ears aren't tuned finely enough to justify getting about three or four extra mixes of a 6-song album.

I, and some other fans might as well,
appreciate a review about the sound of these (to be released) vinyls.

Analogue remasters?
DSD remasters pressed on vinyl?
other...?

Thanks in advance for the reviews!

I do not care if the sound is compressed remastered or what ever. But I do know that if I want to listen to the LP's from the 60's in mint condition, then this is it. All 60's original LP's has anyhow a few cracks pops and whatever background sound. I'm gonna get me the set.

Got mine 64-69 box today.
Surprisingly, the local indie vinylshop here in Oslo was cheaper than Amazon UK smiling smiley

The box looks great and is pretty heavy. Gave me a GREAT feeling carrying it through town today.

Inside, the records come with a straight cover and plain white innersleeve. Some of the covers are pretty grainy and dark (No2 and BtB ), some a bit washed out (No 1), making me think the sleeves are re-photographed of original covers, not original negatives. But I don´t konw. No extras, posters or inlays except Big Hits (high tide...) that has a folded insert with info. I expected something more I guess, but since I don´t have all the early stuff on vinyl, this box is still great. Now I can probably stop playing the few first pressings I have in a drunken stupor every other Saturday.

The box come with one download of the entire box in mp3.

All in all - a must for me, but value for money? Slight nah.....

I'VE GOT IT!...and for those interested in grabbing a deal....
Got the 64-69 Boxset on Amazon.de just now, 129 EUROs,plus 14 shipping!

I woudn't ordinarly go to Amazon Germany, however I've been periodically checking Amazon.com, Amazon.ca, and Amazon.co.uk. They are never below $300 normally. Here are their latest prices:
AMAZON UK – 180.91 GPB
AMAZON DE – 129.40 EUROS
AMAZON CA – 369 Canadian
AMAZON COM – 300.11 $90 off on sale

I had previously bought the 71-05 Vinyl Set just after Christmas, on Amazon.ca got it for a very good $166 Canadian, it's now almost $400.

OK this is an old thread, but it is topical. I was looking up this box set on google, and this IORR thread came up on the first page.

what I was trying to find out, is why it's gone up so much in price, most notably the 64-69 box. It's selling anywhere from $900s to $4000. Mostly see it at around $1300-1500.

Why has this gone up so much? I don't get it...anyone?

Good question, why is it expensive. I'd rather invest in the MFSL boxset. I didn't buy it at regular cost, sure not going to pay more now, lol.

I guess that's the point, they've already hit MFSL-type pricing or even more, and pretty quickly.

The pressings are excellent but I don't have the MFSLs so I can't compare them.

I too have most the new Abkco pressings and I'm very impressed. Don't have any Stones MFSLs but do have 3 Beatles titles and they are the best thing ever made in my opinion. All though the first pressings are cooler for record labels, various inserts and LP covers. Maybe someday they'll combine all the great things and make something called a super record.

Because it's out of print. But the sellers hope of a still strong demand and that the buyers are willing to pay these prices. Market economy: item little available + strong demand = high prices (and vice versa). Same principle with Tickets and scalpers .....

Yeah thanks Irix...I was thinking beyond the obvious supply/demand argument.

Why this box set in particular and why so high so fast? Lots of albums, MOST albums are out of print, but we don't see this type of appreciation.

It took at least a year for them to completely sell out of this as well, probably closer to two years.

drbryant, I think you've possibly hit at least part of the reason, in that the quality of the records have been deemed quite high, much more so than the boxset covering 1971-2005. I think when they were originally issued in 2010 I recall the sixties set outselling the 70s-00s by a factor of 2 to 1.

Anyway it is an interesting development.

Remember, the prices you are seeing are ASKING prices. I doubt that anyone has actually paid $1000+ for this box. I would sell my box for $1000 with no hesitation.
