Best Track On Ya Yas?

for me it is stray cat blues. i loved the BB version but this version really blew my mind. slowed down, the guitar solos and jaggers' "yeaaaah" as they going into the solos.

SFTD, Stray Cat Blues and Live With Me. A nod to Carol.

If I'd had to pick one, it would be SFTD.

Little Queenie
Love In Vain
Live With Me
Carol

Those are great; the rest is mostly on a lower level.

Lower level?

There is not one bad song on it, but if I had to choose one it's Stray Cat Blues followed by SFDT

Lower level?

I never play the other tracks anymore, and rarely did. Rhythmically sloppy and tedious. The first two on my list are also in a class of their own; the other two are lesser, but I would still call them great.

SFTD rhythmically sloppy? HTW, too?? You're on your own planet, man.

Although I agree on some of your choices (Carol and Little Queenie in particular).

Comparatively, of course. But there's competition, also in live performing. You have to choose how you spend your time, and then I would rather play something else. Stones, Doors and Velvet Underground as my favorite bands are about equally good to me. I don't know if you ever heard Velvets bootlegs, but they could play very well live.

Of course I know, but tightness in the rhythm section wouldn't be the first thing I'd point at concerning Velvet.

SFTD IS well played rhythm-wise. Charlie, Bill and especially Keith are on the top of their game there. I just can't believe that you disagree there.

Comparatively? Compared to most of the Stones's live tracks, SFTD from Ya Ya's is one of their tightest numbers ever, imo.

Midnight Rambler, Sympathy For The Devil and Street Fighting Man
....sorry, but I can't boil it down to just ONE song.

Jumpin' Jack Flash, Midnight Rambler and Sympathy for the Devil are great. The others leave something to be desired, to various degrees.

No; at their best they were very tight; certainly much tighter than the worst tracks on YaYa's.

Gotta agree with Stray Cat blues, it's just so sleazy and predatory.

The whole album is awesome, so it feels like being asked which one of your children you prefer.

I say the question is blasphemy! lol

I must have played this album for nearly 30 years and the opening mix of "intros" followed by the opening riff of JJF still brings a smile to my face. I think that's my favourite track in the world from anybody!

Little Queenie. It may be a studio cut, but it's the best single track they ever made I think.

yes the whole album is quite good but the problem is that most solos are overdubbed which is a small minus yet.

no, they aren't. the extensive research done by stones scholars on this subject years ago yielded that they are some vocal overdubs on the album, but that's about it....
