Just to get back to topic. Has there been any more news on a Faces tour? I mean Stones won't be touring till next year so it definitely leaves Ronnie some time to go out on the road for this year, but has anyone heard any more details? just wondering

I can't wait to see the queue you lot will form when the Stones tour with Chris Robinson to replace the cabaret Jagger we've now come to expect

It'll still be the Stones right ?

Yeah. Of course it will. Just as Zeppelin would with Adele singing for them over Plant

From Eventim and GetGo website:
"Am 2. Juli wird die Band als Headliner auf dem Cornbury Festival in UK spielen, um dann für zwei weitere Festivalauftritte nach Holland (Bospop Festival) und Belgien (TWC Festival) zu reisen. Ab Mitte Juli kommen die Faces dann für drei Konzerte nach Deutschland."

"Just as Zeppelin would with Adele singing for them over Plant"

Sounds great, she can sure belt a song out!!

Whats your problem? Let people have their fun, it's no big deal.

Yeah yeah. Love the rock purists who look down on anything which they deem not to be orthentic.

Are Motorhead motorhead, just because Philthy and Fest Eddie aren't with em?

Well thats a trick question 'cus they weren't the original band, so if you saw them, they they weren't the real Motorhead either. and on it goes.

I have no problem people playing with whoever they want!

But to pass it off as a band it clearly isn't is just plain wrong IMHO.

Why not call it Mac, Jones, Hucknall and Wood ?

It's NOT The Faces. That's my only beef

Well that and them sounding crap of course

Maybe you could start a band so we could trash it too. That would be like, fun.

Are you kidding? Who would be more suited than Mick Hucknall???

Sounds really good. Who's singing backup in the choruses? Ian McLagan?

If you close your eyes and listen to the music, do you really mean that?

As I wrote, I haven't heard them. I think Mick Hucknall is a technically good singer, but I could very well imagine that people call Faces performances with him "Cabaret shit".

Please listen to them at least once first. If you still think what you've heard is "cabaret shit", fair enough. But whatever this part-Faces, part-Sex Pistols, part-Simply Red outfit is, it's a good rocking band in my personal opinion.

They're f*ckin hot, and they're only going to get better. They might be doing this for the next 18 months off and on. The people that don't like it will be in for a lot of suffering. But this can't be helped.

I thought those reunion shows were great. Didn't all the members, including Rod, get together about a year ago? Seems like I remember an interview with Ian saying that Rod wanted to lower the key of all the songs they practiced because he couldn't sing them the way they were originally recorded.
I would go the show just to see Ronnie. He's a different guy when he plays his own material - playing loud and aggressive, joining in on the vocals, just owning the stage and the music.

Jimmy Page & the Black Crowes' "Live at the Greek' is a killer cd. Robinson nails Plant's parts. So what if it ain't pure Zep, it sounds damn good.

No, that was a quote from someone else in this thread. Hucknall just does not seem the type of singer who could sing the male chauvinist lyrics of the Faces with much conviction to me. I'm not going to listen, because I rarely change my mind about music and it probably would be a waste of my time.

No, that's exactly what I did *not* mean. My experience as someone who has been listening to music regularly since the early seventies has shown me that the chances are just too low that it would be worthwhile.

Yesterday I listened to a Stones Brown Sugar live clip from 1972 that many people here were exited about, but I had my doubts about because they generally don't play well live after 1970. I listened anyway, and it turned out that I thought that the clip was not so great; I should have trusted my initial feeling.

<because they generally don't play well live after 1970.>

Do you regard the 1970 tour as better than the 1972 tour, and why? Just curious.

If that's the British tour; definitely, yes.

I think still more disciplined playing, like in 1969. The trouble with the early 70s rock sound is often that it can be too heavy and broad to get the subtilities of the music. Timing suffers for the increased energy that you get. It's lazy energy.

There hasn´t been a "British tour" in 1970...you probably mixing it up with the ´71 UK farewell tour...? eye rolling smiley
