the Stones don't do anything for free. The "FREE" concert to attend that they've played in recent years, they've been paid for.

i was 1969 in hyde-park--well, most said there were 250000, but i think--more than 650000 people. but nevertheless, they will earn the money for the following CDs--DVDS releases---and--if there will be a TV life-show!

You do know that the number 2 followed by 7 zeros is 20 million, right?

The word free and the Stones don't go together.

we elect you to pitch this at the next meeting.

"hey guys, how bout you tour for free? just pay millions of dollars out of your own pockets and give the tickets away...it would be great.you could sell a dvd of it."

just make sure the meeting place is either on the ground floor or has no windows.

We would do well to get past this notion that the Rolling Stones owe their fans anything and need to thank their fans. They already thank their fans at end of each show.

Besides, the cost of putting on any such shows would be prohibitive. An Altamont-style plywood and scaffolding stage with a crap PA won't cut it in the 21st century. Free or not, a Stones show needs a proper stage and sound system, which run into big bucks. And they'd need at least a month to rehearse after nearly four years away. Time is money indeed.

The 1/18/03 MSG show that was broadcast on HBO in 2003, most of which is included on the Arena disc on Four Flicks, was the closest we'll get to a free show. While the people in attendance (of whom I was one) paid through the nose, the rest of the USA could watch it at home.
