I Don't like the "Worried about you" live-versions
Posted by: frtg55 ()

I always loved the version of "Worried about you" they did on "Tattoo you" so much.
But I don't like the "Worried about you" live-versions.

Everything would be nice, if Mick does not that horrible loud "screaming-sqealing" in these high falsetto parts at the climax of the song. When he does the quiet falsetto parts, he's mostly ok, but when he's getting louder the song is always wrecked for me.

I am the only one, who doesn't like it that way?

I don't, either
The El Mocambo 77 version though, is excellent. Especially Jagger's singing makes it that great.

Yes - The El Mocambo 77 version ist the best live version so far!
Mick didn't do so much falsetto.
The bootlegs studio-versions a better, too!

I like the version from the Olympia show on Four Flicks, except for the part where he prompts Ronnie and says "step up here , play your guitar...." I have to skip past that part.

I agree about his singing on the El Mocambo version. Top Notch, Top Notch!!

I remember back in the day Erik shared it on here, that's where I first heard it. Here it is on youtube:

I like the live versions that they do. I think it is a great song for Mick to show on. Even Keith clapped the other night!

I'm just glad that there are new things we can finally complain about.

For Christ sake don't let Mick hear you say you don't like a song they rarely play...

I understand what you are getting at. The most recent version was a bit rough, but Worried About You at Atlanta back in 06 was fantastic to me...

Ronnie's guitar work, the sound mix, Mick's singing, everything. Atlanta is one of my favorite shows and this was just one of those amazing moments. A true highlight.

This Atlanta-version has exactly these anoying "baaabyyy"-screamings that I'm talking about.

I would like to hear that song totally without falset.
It should work out fine.
Perhaps a little falsett here and there...
I think, it is really hard and difficult to do it in a live version to make it sound nice.

In studio Mick did it absolutely wonderful.
It always was one of my favourite tunes!

I can't stand Jagger's falsetto. He ruins all that he touches with it.

Are the 2013 versions as good as the original? No

Do I like it? Of course! thumbs up

Love the song. Love most of the 'live' versions too, except the part where Mick shouts in falsetto: 'BAybaaeee'

i don't like the live versions much, either. i really wish they'd play the studio version at least once.

I have never been a fan of Jagger's falsetto. It became really bad through the years, he should not sing like this anymore it is unlistenable. But roll on Mick, usually you sing great on this tour.

I could do without the Baby parts but those aren't nearly as bad as the "nah nah nah nah"s on One More Shot!

Yes! Absolutely true!
The whole "One more shot" is a mess of a song!
It is really not worth to be called a "Stones-Song", but in fact we got more and more of that shit since "Voodoo Lounge".

But "Doom and gloom" is a killer! Great song and truly worth to be called a "Stones-Song"!

By the way:
I love Mick performing this tour - the greatest R'N'R singer in the world.
Nearly 70 ... unbelievable!

When I first heard the two new songs I realized I would like one less shot, and less gloom and less doom as well. The fact that these pass for release as Rolling Stones recordings at all simply shows how badly the standards have slipped in recent years. They will soon go to the same place in the live shows all the other songs of the last 30 years have gone.

To me G&D is like Dangerous Beauty..... too macho, up front..... very derivative, not innovative.

I'm all for the fake-off....special guest Chris Speeding could perform a recap......in 90 seconds.

I hate when a man kicking 70 can't sing like he did in his 30's. Where does he get off shortchanging us like that? eye rolling smiley
