Completely pointless in my opinion. So you take the Instant Karma drumbeat and sing 'Hold on....blah blah blah' in your best Lennon whine. I guess it's ok for people that don't know any better. But it's just another piece of shallow, derivative style-over-substance tripe that will be forgotten about before the year's out.

Have to agree with this - though I enjoyed "Bring the Light" - the rest I thought was just drudgery. Dense sounding, over-the-top derivative, bland.

It's all abit too retro for me. Predictable lyrics and the cod Lennon voice.

If I want to listen to this kinda stuff then I'd buy the originals....

Yep, it’s retro, alright. Thing is, I don’t have a problem with it. Some should stop taking music so seriously and learn to enjoy themselves.

I'm not being 'serious'. It just sounds like their trying to hard to be retro.

Liam's doing his best Lennon impersonation which IMO is a shame.

It's all abit cliche....

True, but at 38 and after about 17 years, isn't it about time that he moved on from endlessly recycling John Lennon by now? I mean, the voice, the clothes, the glasses, every bloody interview - even the name of his son. Ok, Liam, we get the message, mate!

He's actually had a longer career of being John Lennon now than Lennon had himself!

You're right of course, Gazza, but he's hardly going to change now, is he?

Do you like the album, btw?

From what I've heard of it, its better than I thought it would be.

I had the good fortune to catch Beady Eye at the Troxy last Thursday evening. With only one album under their belt, it was a short set, but man; these guys are fantastic on stage. Check them out if you can.

Thanks Big Al - I am looking forward to seeing them in a couple of weeks time at the Teenage Cancer Trust show at the Albert Hall. Liam is in good voice.

You’ll have a blast, I’m sure. It was great to see them in such a cool venue as the Troxy, too. They need to address the bar and toilets situation, though! I have never queue so long for a warm plastic cup of Budweiser in my life!

Oh, one more thing: expect a load of the usual Liam Gallagher wannabe’s mooching around pretending to be hard.

Re: OT: Beady Eye

Yes, there was always a considerable amount of moochng at Oasis gigs!

Worse than the last 5 Oasis albums. Thats an achievement in itself

I dig the album quite a bit. It's a lot less bloated than the last few Oasis records, though the peaks aren't necessarily as high with Beady Eye. But the guys sound like they're having fun, and I like that Andy Bell has switched over to guitar. Both he & Gem are very good players and that opens up the sound quite a bit. Lots of 12-string electric on there, too. And I'll always have time for Liam's voice.

It's a groovy little record - completely lightweight, but I think it'll come in handy this summer. A nice soundtrack for hanging out and drinking beers.

Managed to snag a couple of tickets for the NYC/Webster Hall show in June. Very psyched.
