Best Concert of 2010

Hello, which arist or band was for you the concert highlight in 2010?

For me, it was Alice Cooper with his Theatre Of Death Show!

Other very good shows were also by Anvil, Sabaton, Stone Sour, Shakira and Spandau Ballet.

I'd have to go with that too, it was staggeringly wonderful. I was buzzing off that and goodwood a couple of days for so long afterwards that I couldn't really re-engage with real life for I'd say at least a week to ten days, simply couldn't concentrate on anything !!

Ronnie Wood and Mick Taylor - 100 Club. From the front row, a mere few feet away from two of my guitar heroes, it doesn't get much better than that.

Jack Bruce - BB Kings - Aug 10

Personal favourites:

Faces at Goodwood
Ronnie Wood at the Ambassadors
Slim Chance at the 100 Club
Carolina Chocolate Drops at the Union Chapel
The Bluebyrds at the Isle of Wight (a great local teenage blues band who now, alas, seem to have broken up).

But the Best this year has probably been the various Paul McCartney concerts: I saw him at the Isle of Wight but all his performances this year have had well-deserved rave reviews.

Old Crow Medicine Show supported by Dave Rawlings Machine with Gillian Welch at the Belfast Open House Festival on September 11.

Contrary to the popular 'warhorses are essential' argument, this was proof that you can go to a show, know next to none of the material and have an absolute blast from start to finish. And not an electric guitar in sight either.

Runner up - Bob Dylan in Prague, June 11.

OCMS didn't play their warhorses?? and the fans didn't storm the stage?

haha. I would doubt too many people knew their material (apart from a few covers). It was more a case of a few thousand people going to a gig , trusting it would be a good night out and ending up letting their hair down for a few hours.

i find myself going to more and more shows where i don't know the artist nor the material very well. you get to a certain age and you've seen it all x50 and you want something fresh before you cash it in....that's me. i'd love to see the stones performing material i don't know...like that could ever happen....
