Which one of the gigs did you attend, Marmalade? First or second night?

I saw the signed poster, that Keoth is signing, on the wall at the El Macambo years later. I wonder what happened to it after it closed down?

HNM, you geet my vote for poster of the year!

Many thanks.

You can see KR's Mesa/Boogie Mark 1 very clearly in one of these pix.

The signed poster was framed and mounted on the wall upstairs at the Elmo for many years. I wonder what happened to it after the Elmo closed down?

>>Which one of the gigs did you attend, Marmalade? First or second night?<<

Sohoe, I can't remember now which night it was!
I think it might have been the first night but I'm not sure.
Margaret Trudeau was there but she may have been there both nights.
(I entered a radio station contest and when they telephoned me to
say I had won, I didn't believe them. I thought someone was
playing a joke.)

Yes, Margaret Trudeau was at both shows.

<<Sohoe, I can't remember now which night it was!

Marmalade, if you can remember the stage clothes we can identify which one you attended
The first night Mick wore a blue jean jacket and t-shirt, Ronnie was sporting an El Mocambo t-shirt
and Keith wore a red beret. Mick wore a jump suit the second night

or maybe Marmalade is in the photo :E

- El Mocambo, march 1977 by Ken Regan (don't remember who first posted it, but thank you!)

>> The first night Mick wore a blue jean jacket and t-shirt, Ronnie was sporting an El Mocambo t-shirt
and Keith wore a red beret cap <<

you know for sure that's the first night?! cool - i only know this one photo from "the other night"
and never knew which night was which

with sssoul, I quoted Barbara Charone, who was there on both nights and wrote an article
on it in Sounds Mag. She attended the band rehearsing as well; in addition to the songs already
mentioned in the setlists on Nico's site they were rehearsing Memory Motel and
Everybody Needs Somebody To Love. There's no mention of Worried Life Blues being played though
...wanna read the whole thing? I guess I can do a scan

wow thank you very much indeed, Sohoe!

very cool read. it's been a theory of mine for a while that Worried Life Blues wasn't played at the El Mo,
just that someone who didn't know that number guessed that title sounded right for Worried About You
(which they did play and which no one had heard before, so it would be easy to get it wrong)

curious that Charone attributes the "old bum's rush Jagger" line to Keith - on the record it's clearly Ronnie who says that.
Charone's sure got the feel right, so she can afford a few factual errors - or maybe Ronnie's rendition of it was an overdub tongue sticking out smiley

thanks again & again, Sohoe

Oh, I wish, with sssoul! I wasn't able to get quite that close to the
stage. The place was packed.
