If you could travel back in time, which year in the Stones career would you pick?

If you could go back in time and experience just one year of the Stones' fifty-year career, what year would it be and why?

Some will laugh, but for me it might just be 1981. A killer number 1 single, a strong album and (in my opinion) a great sounding and looking tour.

1978 to make them stop all that crap from the next few years.

I think '64 would be my year.

They were really hitting their stride then, first overseas tour, etc.
Really don't think I would have liked much the decrepit days of Edith Grove.

I would be cool to see the '69 tour, as much to see THEM and soak up the atmosphere as to hear the playing, which probably sounded better in the 90's, through more advanced P.A. systems. Alas, I wasn't on the planet yet in 1969.

Start Me Up made no. 2 on Billboard. Their last number 1 was Miss You.

Autumn 65 to Autumn 66. The greatest run of hit singles of the Stones career. Swinging London. Pre-psychedelia but a sense of something amazing about to happen. Yeah, that would do me.

I was lucky enough to see the Stones in 73. First time I saw 'em at Wembley Sept 73. And boy were they brilliant.

1975/76: the guitar handling is unmatched before and after, although I'm a Taylorite. LA Friday is a legacy; unfortunately Mick Jagger isn't in his best voice, but the guitar playing by Ronnie and Keith is lonely at the top.

1969.

I'd befriend Brian Jones and drag his ass out of the swimming pool.

1962. I would love to have experienced the Crawdaddy days. Still hoping the Gomelski film will show up one day.

1972 for sure! Now, if I could actually go back to '72 and spend time with the band, I would try to exert a bit of influence over the drug use. For me, '72 was the BEST tour and the very BEST CD...EXILE!

1971 - hanging out the summer in Nellcote, having a real nice time with all those people making music and love ... and trying not to get into hard drugsdrinking smiley
