What cheapens and hurts the brand reputation and market value of major rock band more, Tyler doing a cheesy ad like this, or Mick playing on Ntl TV during his bands FIFTIETH anniversary year with Jeff Beck, and not with Keith Richards, whom everyone wants to see him playing with.

At what point, if ever, will MJ figure out that playing with people like JLo, Will I Am, Damian Marley, Dave Stewart, Joss Stone and everyone else he plays with is cool, but no one who pays for his lifestyle would choose those people over The Stones.

This is EXACTLY what pissed off Joe Perry when Tyler signed on as a judge, cause he knew the Friggin Burger King ad was just a matter of time.

Same with Keith, and Mick is totally pulling this crap to get under Keith's skin as payback for some things said in Life.

Bummer is at this point no one wins, except maybe the Foo Fighters, Arcade Fire, Jeff Beck and Lorne Michaels.

Mick- send a jet to bring Ronnie and Charlie back to the US before Saturday, or this mistake could really be a whopper.

and thus the phrase is coined...

"... now its just a matter of time before he/she starts doing Burger king ads".

First I heard of Ronnie & Charlie leaving the U.S., but I haven't read every post on the related threads.

260% is Pre burger king

Just a guess on where RW and CW are, because I don't see them hanging in NYC in a hotel with no planned events, and if they were there it seems someone would've seen them

Does this man not have enough money? Isn't he making $12 million a season to be on IDOL?

So that really is on top of all his other revenue streams.

How much would they pay him to eat a BK Whopper?

He must feel it is really worth it to cheapen his brand that way.

Imho they've always been HUGELY over-rated.
I DLed several ASmith shows from their "golden era" (= the 70's) and I was left unimpressed. It's a bar band that got blown up out by media hype and 70's record execs.

And the songs themselves? "Rats In The Cellar" is okay but the rest is generic blues-rock. And the lyrics... eye rolling smiley

My guess is they're a US-only phenomenon...

Steven Tyler is not unique in doing ads. I think I saw Iggy Pop doing an ad a while back and lets not forget John Lydon doing ads for some insurance company. While I see the Sex Pistols as some one hit wonders who took the money and ran, you kind of expect a little more from the likes of Iggy and Tyler.

The Stones are just as bad. Remember Start Me Up and Microsoft?

Tyler has been a joke for years..but I still listen to my old Aerosmith LPs. Screw American Idol..never watched it(other than catching a few minutes when my preteens were going ga ga over it) and never will...

I haven't seen the commercial, but I really think we all should give credit, where credit's due.

Remember, Tyler has indeed written and performed lots of great rock'n'roll-tunes.

Yes but that was just allowing the song to be used not actually appearing in it as themselves!

There is a difference, IMO, in selling "Start Me Up" to Microsoft for a limited time versus pretending to be a drive up counter employee at your local Burger King.

Burger King.

I think maybe people who are comparing a band/person providing a song for an ad..... or doing an ad for a guitar company to what Tyler is doing here... then they probably have not seen this ad. Tyler is acting like he works/eats at BK and in his full drag getup... it is pretty bad... and I usually give a lot of slack to what these guys wanna do.... but come on...
Shouldnt there be point at which the famous wont whore out their celebrity name to sell crap... like fast food?

There's also the question of which Aerosmith titles have gone up in sales. The Tyler/Perry albums? (perpetuating the cause). Or the Child/Vallance/Fredriksen albums? (an escalation in the crime rate against music)

Let's not forget Cream doing a Falstaff beer commercial.

And Clapton hawking Michelob beer.

I think this shot in Guitar Player is from the same photoshoot.
