1972 - Soundboard recordings
Posted by: muenke ()

Hello,

I must admint that I´m a little bit confused about the circulating soundboard recordings from 72-tour. This is what I have:

1. L&G or "You can´t do that baby" (L&G soundtrack)
2. Keep your motor running (the lost live record)
3. Ahmet Ertegun, thank you kindly
4. Philadelphia Specia I and II
5. Welcome to NY

Did I miss something or ist this the "regular collection"?

Thanks in advance ....

If I may be a little picky, your list translates to:

1. Mixture of 3-4 Ft Worth 24 June and Houston 25 June shows.
2. Philadelphia 20 July + 21 July (2nd show) + Ft Worth 24 June (1st show) and Houston 25 June.
3. Ft Worth 24 June 2nd show.
4. Philly 20-21 July
5. NYC 26 July

All in all, we have nearly-complete soundboards from:
Ft Worth
Philadelphia
NYC
Houston (a few songs?)

And also Pittsburgh (though that's a rather tired performance)
And various snippets from news casts and the CS Blues movie etc.

Something I've missed out on?

At first sight I would say: no (except a couple of L&G outtakes and some clips from the Dick Cavett Show July 72). But actually this question/topic might be better posted in the Buy/Sell/Trade Section. There are the real experts.

I think if you get the 7 CD Dandelion '72 tour box you will have all known '72 tour SB's available.

Aha! No. You are correct. But technically that's a monitor board though...

yeah, but it has a charm of its own - i find myself listening to it almost as much as anything else from the tour. i believe it's the only complete line recording from the tour available, too....

"And a tough listen....very very muddy"

If your stereo's amp have a treble button that you can boost the treble... Makes a hell of a difference with this Pittsburg tape winking smiley It suddenly comes alive and you realize you have of the best versions of "Bitch" ever.

I believe there are 2 songs from one of the San Francisco shows, and also SFM from Montreal available. No?

Really? Perhaps I have to go back to that one.
It's one of those boots I only listened to one time and never again because I found it that dire. Both sound and performance.
But at that time I got myself so many boots that maybe I missed something about it . . (although somehow I doubt it).

There are no soundbaord songs from the SF Winterland shows. I had heard about this too so I got the CD that these songs were supposedly on (winter tour 73 VGP) and they were defintely NOT soundboard.

I also enjoy this muddy-sounding line recording (or soundboard?).
Enjoy it's completeness...with some good song performances.
Frustrates me listening to incomplete soundboard spliced with audience rec etc..

The 2 SF tracks on the rattlesnake release seem to be AUD as well.
