Is Ronnie's manager the escort ?

Last october I attended an ABC&D of Boogie Woogie concert, there was no security visible. I must admit that I would have been disappointed if Charlie Watts' appearance would have lasted only 50 seconds. Charlie seemed to be safe and happy, there were no perverts in the audience and gig went for nearly three hours.

Woody24,

Spot on, Even without being there!
This wasn't Woody.
Do feel a bit bad about those who felt cheated, but...
Security. They can't take the risk.
Don't have a clue what happend. Looks harmless.
Probably the local ones making a fuss of it. Getting scared
about something not prepared for, me think.

That's a disgusting rip-off! And I WOULD Have gotten my $$ back, for sure! What in the HELL did he and his security team think was going to happen?? And why couldn't they " protect him?" That's what good security does, but they still allow for the artist to meet his fans. I've never heard of such a thing, ever!!

Come on ! Ronnie Wood isn't Jagger or Keith.
He's not Justin Bieber ,ya know .....>grinning smiley<
How could he been afraid of being "attacked" or bothered by fans ,especially when the fans PAID for it ?

See, I 'd never be able to jump on Jagger ,neither on a "Meet & Greet" ,nor on the street.

Dear Ronnie this is worse than a Con Artist who sets out to find a 'mark' to defraud.

You hustled people who who are your actual fans and already pay your rent!

They won't be paying your rent anymore, I hope.

It reminds me of something George W. Bush once said: :Fool me once . . .. uh fool me. . .. It's uh wrong uh. . ..

Never mind.

i'm not surprised. as quiet as charlie is thought to be, the only 2 times i went to the rattlesnake lounge, he came out each time to talk to people.

I work in the security business. Here's the deal. It doesn't matter that no one was acting threatning or over zealous. When you're in the business of security, you have to PREVENT an incident ahead of time. It's your job to ANTICIPATE trouble and PREVENT your protectee from being involved in it.

I realize you can never tell what may happen, but from the looks of it Ronnie was in no danger, potential or otherwise, whatsoever. And who in the middle of bum f-uck Egypt Ohio would want to harm Ronnie anyway. No offense, but he's "that other guy from the Stones" to most people.

You're right, got it a bit wrong.
I meant I think it was the local security who messed it up. It looks harmless on the video. Never been to a M&G, will never ever go, maybe/probably. But I think I would have managed to organize this one better.

When you think about it, this is just one more embarrassing public screw-up by Ronnie, as this news of the cost and the non-delivery of the meet and greet will be disseminated over the net via the video.

that video somehow makes me shiver with shame - he just shakes a few hands and disappears upstairs - how @#$%& rude is that to a paying customer

>> how @#$%& rude is that to a paying customer <<

... it was the museum that charged people, right? and the museum that advertised it as a "meet and greet"?
do people here know for a fact that Ronnie and his manager were even told that's how it was being advertised?
(i'm sorry for the people who went, and of course it's a huge drag that people were disappointed.
obviously i don't know who was responsible, but it's the museum i'd want my money back from.)

In 2005 (Bigger Bang Tour) I entered a contest Ronnie's son, Tyrone held @ Ronnie's web site. The prize was a meet and greet with Ronnie in NYC @ PoP gallery where he was having an art exibit of his paintings and two tickets to see The Stones in NY. All you had to do was answer 1 question. I think it was something like Q. "What movie featured a song written by Ronnie in the soundtrack?" A. Mahoney's Last Stand. I submitted and a week later I received an e-mail that I was the ONLY winner. I am a HUGE Ron Wood fan and have been most of my life. I could not believe I won. I live in New Jersey so it was no problem for me to get there. Since I entered under my wife's name she was the "real" winner. (Always enter your wife or girlfriends name when entering these contests) So we went to the gallery under the premise that she was the "huge" fan. ANYWAY It was GREAT We were in the gallery when David Bowie came in and signed the Painting Ronnie did of him. The place was packed!

When Ronnie arrived he was swamped by his fans. He hung out for some elbow rubbing and photos with some fans and then he was wisked off to a private room. After awhile Tyrone came out and brought me and my wife back to Ronnie's private room. It was just Ronnie, Bob Geldoff, Tyrone and a couple of other people and Us. I thought I was dreaming. I had brought some things for Ronnie to sign and He was SO NICE to us. He made us feel so welcome. We hung out for a bit and talked. He posed for some pictures with us and he asked if we were coming to the show the following night. He invited us to come backstage to his dressing room. WoW!~ The next night we went to the show and were brought back-stage by Jo Wood. We meet Charlie and Bernard in the backstage area. Very Cool! And Jo gave us passes to the Rattlesnake Inn and brought us to Ronnie's dressing room before showtime. It was just Jo, Ronnie my wife and myself. Ronnie was just hanging out "coolin" We all just chatted a bit and posed for some more pictures. Then Jo handed us two seats right on the side of the stage to watch the show. I don't have to tell you how great that was. It took a couple of weeks for my feet to get back on the ground after that. What a GREAT experience it was.

I did not even see a manager or assistant, just Ronnie and his escort. Anyone else around him were art gallery staff.

"do people here know for a fact that Ronnie and his manager were even told that's how it was being advertised?"
Whetehr it was spelled out in black & white doesn't matter. Ronnie was there, fans of his were there. How hard is it to shake a few hands and sign a few autographs. As others have mentioned. You don't see Charlie Watts walking around a big security entourage do you?

Re: Ronnie Wood Meet & Greet was a joke

Ronnie is known for taking time to his fans, signing stuff etc. I´m sure there is a reason for this.

>> You don't see Charlie Watts walking around [with a] security entourage do you? <<

huh?? sure you do, in situations where it's deemed apparopriate - and you also see Ronnie walking around without one,
when it's not deemed necessary. but what does that have to do with this museum scenario??
(windmelody's post above about Charlie is about a concert - not an apt comparison with a meet-and-greet type scene)

if a museum invited one of us to "a reception in our honour", asked us to say a few words into a microphone
and then escorted us upstairs, any of us might very well do what the organizers/hosts asked us to do.

i don't know what the museum told Ronnie - it's just weird to me sometimes how quick some people are to make harsh judgements.
meanwhile it's the museum (not Ronnie) that advertised a meet & greet and charged money for it.

>> Ronnie is known for taking time for his fans, signing stuff etc. I´m sure there is a reason for this. <<

that's what i mean - thanks Dandelion Powderman

Okay, I'm going to just blame the state of Ohio. First, they rigged the 2004 Presidential Election so anything is possible.

I saw McCartney over the summer, one of his sound checks and he played for 1 hour and 45 min, then did almost a three hour show that night!

Now this is something I would pay for.
