Great set of songs Keef picked and at the time was way-cool ta
see him slot in Booker T's groove slice on Slim Harpo's Scratch My Back ....

The BookerT version was cut somewhere between 66-68 but remained unreleased till 1995....

Up there with their smoldering Home Grown ....

Right on Rockman! Some incredible grooves on that one. And what about Hip Hug Her???? WHEW! That break down with the Cropper's lead is one of the most exhilarating smack of gut bucket guitar scratched on vinyl. Awesome!

A great cd compilation, listen to it on a regular basis...I just wonder how much input Keith actually had in track selection, I like to think he really did choose them all personally - but I have my doubts!

There's anoter "Uncut" CD titled THE DEVIL'S JUKEBOX (I think) w/the Stones on the cover -- it's the original versions of songs the Stones recorded. Very nice to have.

Yeah!

It inspired me a while back to make MY version.
I have between 700-800 original blues recordings from 1928 on and I was proud to see my version held up nicely to Mr. Richards selections.

I didn't forget Skip James

I can't remember hearing Ruler of My Heart (Irma Thomas) song before. It sounds like either Otis's "Pain in My Heart" was inspired by this, or perhaps the opposite.

Anyone know the story of these two songs?

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

>> Anyone know the story of these two songs? <<

sure, CindyC my dear! this here seems to be correct even though it's from wikipedia:
'[Irma Thomas] then began recording on the Minit label, working with songwriter and producer Allen Toussaint
on songs including "It’s Raining" and "Ruler of my Heart", which was later reinterpreted by Otis Redding as "Pain In My Heart".'
